NARF!

Man! It’s already Wednesday?! Time sure flies by when you’re having fun! And can someone please tell me why the weather is still so damned cold?! It’s nearly the end of May and the mornings are still in the upper 50’s! WTH! Hopefully, my complaining will do some good because the forecast says it will be about 80-degrees by Friday. Mind you, however, Friday will rain. So if it is hot, it will be hot and sticky and wet. Gross. How great (but should be fun and romantic). :)

This is the most retarded article about the Wii I’ve read so far. In fact, the author of this Newsweek article sounds like he did poor research and didn’t know what he was talking about.

Umm, I didn’t expect the BMW Films (The Hire) torrent to finish so quickly. But it turns out that it took less than a day to download. In any case, I have the “DVD” now, and it’s fantastic. It’s not a movie, which is good because my attention span as of late cannot compete with current movie run times, and these 8 movie shorts are a perfect cure to my boredom. Ask me for it if you want to see the films as well (or just come over and we’ll do a movie night–seriously).

Here’s an interesting take from one person’s view of the early-morning subway commute in NYC. [via]
I’ve always thought it weird that one of the most diverse city in the world is still segregated within its own walls. Working at Mighty Map last summer, I was able to witness this first hand just about every morning on the 2 train into Brooklyn. I would get on at 34th street and so would tons of other people in business suits (men and women). But as soon as Wall Street came, they all got off and the only people left on the train into Brooklyn were mostly minorities (me included). And not only that, as soon as I got into Crown Heights (on the Sterling Street stop), the whole area was blacks on one side and Jewish folks on the other. It was such a weird thing for me to be walking down the street and sometimes (but not all the time), people would give me the look like “What’s this Asian boy walking down this street?”. It was quite funny to witness and be a part of, but I would have thought by now at least that the demographics for certain areas and jobs would be more diverse. Unfortunately, it’s not, and this sort of thing just takes time to change. Maybe in 10 years. Who knows.

Vista Start Menu

I keep gravitating towards the fact that Windows Vista looks better than OSX, and everytime new screenshots of the betas come out, I become even more convinced. While OSX may have done a lot of these visual cues first in their operating system, Vista really adds its own flair to the mix. I posted the image above because I like how Vista blurs the background of semi-transparent windows instead of “greying” it out like in OSX. It’s the same idea basically, but I think it’s a bit cooler this way. But dude, “Windows Vista Ultimate” sounds so retarded. They’re going to need to change that name.

Awesome. Awesomer.

I’ve seen those days of the week underwears before, but these Monday To Friday t-shirts seem like such an expensive purchase. Maybe it’s because I’m in the states and these are coming out of Australia. Still, these seem expensive for what they are, but I guess the lazy in all of you can relate to easy daily apparel.

If you have a video iPod, this is a fun little thing to do: download every iPod TV ad and put it on your video iPod. The link brings you to a page that needs to open iTunes, but if you don’t have iTunes, just do it the alternative way and download each episode separately. There are a lot of TV ads I have never seen before. I wonder if I’m not watching enough TV, heh. [via]

For those of you who want to listen to Keane’s latest single, Is It Any Wonder, here it is below. I’m very excited for their latest album, Under The Iron Sea, to be released. If it’s anything like this single, it’s gonna be good. :)
AHH! Tickets for Keane @ The Bowery Ballroom have been on sale since May 19th! I am too late to purchase tickets because they are sold out now! :( But I know there must be another way to get tickets…there has to be (probably Craigslist, where everyone will be selling each ticket for 1 million dollars).

This new flash audio player I implemented is kinda cool. Ideally, there would be more functionality and control over tracks and volume, but for playing individual tunes, this works just fine and dandy!

Hey, thanks for checking out the subway demographics post. Your observations about the subtle segregations in the city are spot-on. What was fascinating to me was the realization that we’re segregated still by the time we have to show up for work. White men are allowed to show up for work pretty much any time they (uh, “we”, in my case) want, while immigrants, minorities, and women seem to have stricter — and earlier — start-work times.
