now i get it, but i still kinda find it pointless that a random person who does this simple art project and cause a big hype about it all of a sudden makes a 12x12 blank white canvas with $.10 of blue ink on it is worth $100 or more. Its a pretty neat project I admit but to pay so much for a canvas with a number PRINTED on and not even painted on. I have much respect for pictures and many other art projects like post secret but this I dislike for some reason. So if one day in the future, I become real poor, I will take 26 12x12 canvas and have the letter printed on it, and considering there are only 26, they shall be worht thousands. and if that is a success, do the same in other languages. just an idea..

Well, from the site:
"Generally, the value of a number is defined by the number itself, in the following way: value = 1000 - number. However, this is only the maximum price. Initially, a discount of 90% applies. This discount will decrease by an absolute 10% for every hundred paintings that are sold (for example, after 300 sold paintings, the discount will be 60%). In short, the earlier you buy your favourite number, the less you pay. For detailed information about the price development of any given number, go to the availability page and click on the "More info..." next to the number of interest.

In any case, the minimum price is $40. Shipping will be charged seperately."

But I know what you mean.
