Beat Tiffany at Tontie and win a prize

June 30, 2006 @ 9:50 pm

tontielevel20

Ok, so here’s a challenge for all of you wanting to waste some time. My sister has managed to get all the way up to level 20 on Tontie, which in my experience in playing the game, is just about impossible. Yet, she has done it (and no, the screenshot is not Photoshop’d).

Can you beat her in Tontie? If so, then take a screenshot of your game and level number and send it over to me. I’d love to see more people accomplish such a feat.

Oh, and the prize will be 3 very nice Puma shoe magnets. Har har! Ok, maybe I’ll be nice and add something extra, but for sure, the magnets will be part of the prrrriiiiiizzzzzeeeeee.

And Tiffany, please stop playing the game. At least until somebody beats you!

Shakespeare in the Park

June 30, 2006 @ 1:28 am

Shakespeare in the Park is already a little more than a month into production, and you and I have about less than a week left to experience the first play, Macbeth, before it closes on July 9th. The production runs on Tues-Sun, at 8PM (but get there much earlier).

New York magazine gives some tips on how to score tickets for the annual Shakespeare in the Park event.

About.com recommends that people start lining up at 8:30AM (or earlier) for a chance at scoring the limited amount of free tickets (each person is allowed only 2 tickets).

See the full Shakespeare in the Park 2006 schedule. I may go this Saturday, so keep a heads up and see if you wouldn’t like to join me.

Buttercream Gang video highlights

June 30, 2006 @ 12:59 am

My mind wanders sometimes, and today, I started thinking about the old family feel-good movie, The Buttercream Gang. So where else would I do a search but YouTube. Looks like somebody else is on the same wavelength. My brothers and sisters would remember this for sure. Anybody else ever watch The Buttercream Gang?

Simon sees real Koreans from Korea

June 29, 2006 @ 9:43 am

I emailed Simon a couple of days ago and told him that instead of writing, he should just post YouTube video updates because they are faster and they are easier to share. Plus, we get to see stuff. So I guess he took my suggestion and posted this first video of his missions trip to Korea and the Far East.

Good to know he’s alright and having fun. I’ll post more as he posts more.

I think I’ll do a video update for him too about:

  • me
  • the rest of the family
  • Joey
  • the apartment
  • NYC stuff

Until next time, continue praying for him. And Norman, if you’re reading this, you should definitely do the same when you head off to…Ja-Paaaaannnn (in Street Fighter voice).

New Disney logo animation

June 29, 2006 @ 8:47 am

I forgot to mention in my review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest that Disney is debuting a newly animated logo along with the movie.

It’s computer animated, like the Pixar ones you see before a Pixar animated film, but this new one has more flair and, in my opinion, looks much better than any of their previous animated logos. The new logo has fantastic fireworks and some water with the classic Disney castle and the “rainbow” curve over the castle. The music is also a bit different, but then again, it’s been a long time since the logo had any music accompanying it so you might not even notice right away.

I was taken by surprise by the new logo because I had no idea that Disney even commissioned a new animated logo to be made. But I can tell you that it’s no dissapointment since it still looks great. I really like the new change. It’s funny that a whole 12-seconds of film/video would have such an impression on me, as I’m sure it did for others in the theater with me as we watched Pirates of the Caribbean (2) begin.

As of right now, the logo hasn’t official debuted yet because Pirates of the Caribbean is not released to the public (it comes out July 7). It took quite a bit of research to find any information whatsoever on the new animated logo, but I did manage to find a few comments in a forum discussion thread.

Watch out for the new animated Disney logo when Pirates of the Caribbean opens on July 7th!

Thursday already?! Hot dang.

freedom tower

The Lower Manhattan Development Group has released the latest and hopefully final plan for the Freedom Tower. The Freedom Tower looks vastly different now than it did when it first was introduced.

Heh, someone’s hand was caught in the scanner during a Google Book Search scan. [via]

These 32 World Cup soccer balls visually show you the state in which each country that qualified for the World Cup is in by incorporating specific textures, materials, and looks. Visually speaking, I like how the Trinidad + Tobago ball came out. [via]
This reminds me a lot of the Meet The World flag campaign I posted a while back. Very interesting, indeed.

I keep catching short takes of the World Cup games here and there as I pass by sports bars in the city, so I never actually get a chance to see a full game. To make an attempt at catching a game, I have subscribed [temporarily] to this World Cup 2006 US TV Schedule Google Calendar. If you want to subscribe to the same calendar, just click that link and add it to your Google Calendar. Don’t use Google Calendar? WHY NOT?!

I really wish I could work at a place like National Forest, a “creative think-tank” that specializes in making outstanding visual elements and components to grab users’ (or consumers’) attention. I’m in no way even near their creative abilities, but I would certainly love to be immersed in it 24/7.
Currently featured on the front page of their website is the ElementEndangered Series” designs. I really dig those boards. Top notch designs. They’ve helped Element design some other stuff as well. Do check those out in their projects section.
And as I’ve mentioned before, I think Element has one of the best company logos of any company that I know of. :)

fj cruiser

The new Toyota FJ Cruiser has been popping up all over town. I love it. It’s such a nice looking SUV and certainly a welcome addition to any road that I may be driving on.
Check out the Toyota FJ Cruiser minisite for some more info. The minisite has some awesome videos of the FJ Cruiser crossing over some pretty rough terrain and coming out unscathed. I really love the line drawings/videos of the vehicle as well. A nice looking site, to say the least.
Since the FJ Cruiser is part of the Land Cruiser family, Toyota has also put up a site to celebrate the 55-year heritage of the vehicle and what it has done to bring the world closer together.
See more photos here.

Product Dose re-launches with a new look. It is now ten times better all around with the addition of tabbed pages and personalization. Go take a look.

Have a good day! Leave some.
