Rainy weekend ahead

I swear, my post titles are getting more retarded by the day. For a site such as this one, I actually find post titles to be redundant and unnecessary. I mean, I could just get rid of them altogether but I find that they are easier to identify as permalinks when I do have them. I’m no Wordpress guru, so I don’t really know of any other way to get around it, although I’m sure a way exists.

Anyway, I got this very nice distressed green and white cap from Puma on Thursday and I’ve been wearing it around (to break it in, but also because I actually like this hat a lot). I wore it over to lunch yesterday and I took it off and placed it on the table as I ate. A little while later, my grandma asked me if the hat was mine and I said that it was, and she started laughing. I didn’t understand, so I asked what was so funny, and she says this: Green hats mean that your wife is unfaithful to you. I was like, “What?!” and I started laughing. Apparently, some age old Chinese beliefs die hard.

The hat goes well with big black glasses. We played it like it was 1986. Good times eating hot dogs and tater tots and screaming at the television because of ugly pimped out rides. We need more days like today.

I think News Designer has a really good look on how the announcement of the death of Al-Zarqawi was printed in the newspapers and how it was presented to readers. Kinda interesting to see how different newspapers with different readership were responding to (and/or spinning) the news.

If you’ve got some spare bike tires lying around, maybe you can strip the air tube from the inside of them to make your very own water weenie–a “portable garden hose” to attack unsuspecting friends and foe! [via]

Gyms Pacific makes really cool neoprene cases for laptops and accessories. I was in a store on the LES today and I came across one of their smaller neoprene cases and it can also serve as a great case for compact Canon cameras. I really want one. Now my black neoprene case looks so plain. :(

The Shake Shack webcam is up and running 24/7 (even though the Shack isn’t open 24/7). The purpose of it is so that people can anticipate how much waiting time they may need in order to receive food. It updates every few seconds or so. At the moment, I am looking at a live shot of Madison Square Park at nighttime and I must say, it looks kind of neat at nighttime and in high contrast. :P

Umm, wow, there is a store that sells Juggernaut things. Sorry I just can’t get enough of this Juggernaut phenomenon. It’s so good!

These are two things that always make me chuckle a bit: O RLY? and ROFLCOPTER AND LOLLERSKATES. Yep, chuckle.

land roller
Land Rollers are the newest evolution to the great exercise method known as rollerblading. Land Rollers incorporate a new Angled Wheel Technology (AWT) that allows for greater maneuverability and fluidness while cruising over a wider variety of landscapes. The Land Rollers have larger wheels as well while still maintaining the same height distance of traditional rollerblade skates. If there was one product to bring excitement back to the pavement, Land Rollers may be it! [via]

Ralf Peters’ photos of gas stations at night are pretty neat. None of the photos have people in them and the settings are usually against plain black landscapes which totally make the gas stations look like little UFOs in the middle of nowhere. [via]

papa john
Seriously, this is the best ad I’ve ever seen done, and it’s done well. Papa Johns certainly will get good marks for commissioning this one.

I like online shopping websites that give a shopping experience like that of Pantagonia, Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic. Why? Because they offer intuitive shopping options that don’t require pages and pages of loading since everything about any particular product is displayed in a nifty “pop-up like” window (it’s not a pop-up though). The Gap companies call it “quick look” while Pantagonia just makes it their ONLY way of viewing a product. Not a bad idea at all. More online companies need to start incorporating this.
