New Disney logo animation

I forgot to mention in my review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest that Disney is debuting a newly animated logo along with the movie.

It’s computer animated, like the Pixar ones you see before a Pixar animated film, but this new one has more flair and, in my opinion, looks much better than any of their previous animated logos. The new logo has fantastic fireworks and some water with the classic Disney castle and the “rainbow” curve over the castle. The music is also a bit different, but then again, it’s been a long time since the logo had any music accompanying it so you might not even notice right away.

I was taken by surprise by the new logo because I had no idea that Disney even commissioned a new animated logo to be made. But I can tell you that it’s no dissapointment since it still looks great. I really like the new change. It’s funny that a whole 12-seconds of film/video would have such an impression on me, as I’m sure it did for others in the theater with me as we watched Pirates of the Caribbean (2) begin.

As of right now, the logo hasn’t official debuted yet because Pirates of the Caribbean is not released to the public (it comes out July 7). It took quite a bit of research to find any information whatsoever on the new animated logo, but I did manage to find a few comments in a forum discussion thread.

Watch out for the new animated Disney logo when Pirates of the Caribbean opens on July 7th!

Videos of various Disney animated logos to follow…

The classic Disney animated logo. This logo is about 20 years old and you can hear the tune in this one (as of late, Disney has removed the tune altogether and sped up the animation sequence. I have no idea why, but I’ve noticed it, that’s all). This is the logo that is being retired when Pirates 2 comes out. :(

The CGI animated Disney logo with the depth and shadow of the castle added. This logo was used in the Disney/Pixar computer-animated feature films.

Another variant of the Disney animated logo, this time with a flashlight effect. This logo was used very recently in some of the Disney movies up until the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film. A bit dark for Disney, no?

Wow, this animated logo sequence for the Walt Disney Classics films brings back so many memories. The tune that goes with it just reminds me so much of my Miami house and all of the Disney movies I’ve watched on our old TV. Moreso, this logo sequence just reminds me of being younger.

Here’s another that I’ve seen before as well, but it doesn’t bring back memories like the logo I posted right above it (The Walt Disney Classics one).

RE LINGLONG: yeah, it made me think of when i used to just sit around and watch disney tapes over and over again until i memorized all the lines. I think i can still recite some specific movies from beginning to end. :)
