It sure as heck has been an exciting and busy week for me. Guest blogging over at JustJared took up a lot of my time, but it was definitely an experience that showed me a lot of what goes on in tier 1. Haha, totally kidding. More on my week as a celebrity blogger later. For now, some interesting tidbits I’ve been reading. Enjoy.
Apple might open a new store on W 34th st, literally a few blocks from where I am. This one probably won’t be 24 hours like the Fifth Ave one, but hey, could still be as neat and boring as any other Apple store.
If you click on the HISTORY for each article in Wikipedia now, you can subscribe to the RSS feed there so that you know when your favorite Wikipedia articles are being edited and changed. Wow, I can’t imagine how much computing task it must have taken to put RSS feeds on all of Wikipedia’s 1 million + articles (and counting!).
Umm, this is incredibly bad news for me. Not because it IS bad news, but because movie hopping will now be even more rewarding! AMC/Loews theaters are now slashing ticket prices to $6 if you see a movie showing before noon. Since movie hopping days usually start right before noon time, this means it’s an even bigger steal now. HA HA.
This past Thursday in NYC, the rain fell like it had never before. There was flooding and chaos as people tried to get home during the peak of the storm at rush hour. To my surprise, there was news of a tornado (or two) touching down in nearby Westchester county in upstate NY. It seems like the plot in The Day After Tomorrow may be coming true! AHH! Run for the hills!
Goodbye UMD. You sucked. And it looks like your proprietary Memory Stick format that is set to replace you is going to suck too.
I listen to a lot of music, that’s why I leave my music stats for Last.fm to gather, so that I can just browse on over there and see what my “musical trends” look like. Anyway, Last.fm finally dropped their beta insignia and has gotten a small facelift. Don’t worry, the pink and grey are still there.
If I updated during this past week, I would have written about the small new update to Google Maps (for this week). Double-click zooming and new top menus, man, it’s getting better.
Also, Google seems to have updated their Image Search database. But it still sucks. Der.
The MET in NYC is raisings its suggested donation entry fee from $15 to $20 beginning August 1. Funny thing is, they aren’t telling anybody that the price is by donation, so a lot of people end up paying thinking that it’s mandatory. You decide if that’s wrong or right.
The Bodyflik is a cool little bathroom accessory that sort of replaces the need for a towel when drying from a shower. Basically, the bodyflik works like a squegee for your skin and “shaves” off all of the water that sits on your body. I think it’s a pretty neat concept and I’d like to try one because I keep thinking that using one of these would hurt after a shower. I want to prove myself wrong. [via]
