‘Cause baby girl’s a queen
Breaking news of the day: Lance Bass is gay! Thanks Pam for the immediate news.
Has anybody else been receiving spam filled with random images lately? I’ve been getting it sporatically for about 2 weeks now. It turns out that it’s all part of a new type of image-based spam. Heh, it’s funny that there’s a term to describe the groups that release such types of spam: “spam gangs”.
G sends over a link to the new movie, Stranger Than Fiction, starring Will Ferrell and Emma Thompson (among other notables). It looks really good and really funny. It comes out November 10, 2006!
Watch the trailer here.
I love Le Tigre and it’s good to see that they finally revamped their website. The last edition was just crazy in all the wrong ways.
This is so funny. There’s a website dedicated to tampon crafts. Tampon Crafts is all about making various things with standard tampons. I came across this while looking at the tampon gun via BB.
AP Images officially gave me an account today. I can search their database of images now. It’s an incredibly huge collection of press images as well as creative images so it’ll be good for me to be able to search through it in case I need anything urgently. I don’t know the specifics about pricing for each individual hi-res image yet though. With the AP Images account, I’ll be able to search for cute polar bears sticking their tongue out. :P
There’s a lo-fi [96 kbpbs] download of Hellogoodbye’s upcoming album, Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!, available at The Stuart Staples Experience (you can listen to the whole CD on their website). It’s alright, but I’m just picky about listening to music at higher quality rips because the 96 kbps situation just kills me each time. If you liked their EP though, you’ll probably like this upcoming CD release because it’s more of the same type of electronic/rock music. I’m liking the All Time Lows track a lot so far though. But the whole CD will require some more listening before I make a solid decision whether to dump it or keep it.
Listen to more of it on Pure Volume.
In other news, I can’t get enough of As Cruel As School Children, the latest pre-release of Gym Class Heroes‘ latest work. It’s fantastic. :)
Is it me, or are CDs really getting cheaper nowadays?

The Puma RS-100 shoes are my favorite shoes right now. I really like what Puma is doing overall with this style, like when they release the shoe in Prismatron colors above. Yuuuuuummm! Those specific colors are “old” to me, but they still look good.
My boss wears these purple Prismatron RS-100 shoes to work. How cool is that?
New York Magazine has released their Cheap Eats 2006 for NYC. They rate their selections with a 5-star system, with 5-star joints being the “best” and 1-star places noted as noteworthy. But remember, even the 1-star places are worth visiting because they made the list of all the places to eat in the city.
It’s good to see Shake Shack, Blue Smoke, The City Bakery, and Gray’s Papaya on this list. But really, I think Blue Smoke should be above Shake Shack.

Wow, click the image above and go look at the comments on each individual item in the photo. Crazy!
Kottke pointed to an interesting cover of The Independent last week showing a visual representation of countries that support and do not support the ceasefire in the Middle East.
Uhh, maybe I should visit the food court inside Manhattan Mall more often, because I had no idea Arby’s opened up a fast food place there. Cool!
Heh, get a friend and play iPod War. The directions are quite simple especially if you already know how to play War with a deck of cards.
Speaking of iPod, TUAW has an interesting write-up on how to improve the iPod’s UI. I would personally like the Shuffle Songs option to be a physical button alongside the iPod somewhere. Actually, why not just make the Repeat function a button also because going through those menus sometimes is a pain in the butt! And seriously, some color customization would be good.
Read more about the Heliodisplay below…
To go out with a total bang, watch these videos of Heliodisplay, a new type of video projection that projects images into thin air (like Princess Leia style in Star Wars when she was asking for help through R2D2). I can’t believe this is a prototype! Ahhhh! So cool! So cool!
See more images and videos of the Heliodisplay here.
