She goes above and beyond her call of duty

sex is K?!
I had to pay a $50 tresspassing ticket the other day for climbing into a closed NYC public park playground. It was seriously the dumbest ticket I’ve ever received and the cops totally had no sympathy for the fact that all I wanted to do was get a better view of something. Brandon and Julien were with me as well, and they were both just as lucky to get caught with me.
Anyway, if I was a real prick, I could have disputed the ticket by saying that the officer wrote my middle initial where my sex should have been and that in reality K is just not a gender. I know tickets like this have to be exact down to the periods so it probably would have gotten me out of losing $50 to the city, but I paid it anyway. My concious is too powerful to fight.

WTC memorial
The World Trade Center Memorial Foundation has launched a national ad campaign with TBWA\Chiat\Day to raise funding for the building of the WTC memorial and memorial museum in New York.

By asking the public “Where were you when it happened?” this phase of the campaign highlights September 11th, 2001 as a seminal moment in everyone’s lives that should be remembered by building a lasting Memorial and Museum. The campaign theme calls upon the public to “think back, move forward” and in doing so, to help build the Memorial.

Watch the provocative television advertisements here (you can also listen to the radio spots and download the print advertisements as well). I really love their print ads for some reason. I used to have one in the phone booth right outside my building…I should have taken it. Now it’s gone. Dang it.
CBS has more on the new ads.

I was seriously wondering why Paris Hilton’s second single, Turn It Up, was out on the radio the other day so soon after her first single, Stars Are Blind, was released. It turns out that when an album isn’t doing so hot in sales, the record company will push a second single in order to attempt to generate new interest in the music. Unfortunately for Paris, the move didn’t work and her album sales numbers are embarrassing. It turns out also that people are turned off that she won’t have a tour and that she can’t sing. Are people retareded or something??!!

When I change my phone plan in about a month and a half and get a chance to pick a new phone, I wonder if the Samsung SGH-D900 will be available [and possibly free]. I can dream, right?

I went into a J.Crew randomly the other day and didn’t do anything in there except try on the vintage broken-in fleece hooded sweatshirt and then jet out of there. I was in like a cat, and out like a bee. Ok, I don’t really know how to use that phrase at all. I was just in and out quick. That’s all.

I am seriously having so much fun searching for stupid stuff with TagFetch, a new type of search site that displays results from “the web’s best sources”. I really love how the results are displayed. Go fetch something.

I’m looking into a new Wordpress theme for Doobybrain.com. If I do implement a new one, I think I’ll base it off of one of these minimal themes. The minimal themes are always easy to work with because I don’t understand a lot of the code (but I do understand some of it).

Pork rinds, alcohol, beef jerky, sour cream, coconut, and chocolate bars all have this in common: everybody thinks they’re bad for you, but they’re actually good for you. Who would’ve thought such “bad” things were so “good” (I say “good” because if I said “good” without the quotation marks, somebody out there would just go ahead and eat one of these things the rest of their life — that would be bad).

I have another dentist appointment today! I hope they put a camera in my mouth again!!! :D

Hold your glass up

August 30, 2006 @ 4:28 am

I went to the dentist today and they have this new thing where they stick a camera into your mouth and shoot photos and then show you very close-up pictures of your mouth to you instantly on big screen! It’s so friggin fantastic! I would go to the dentist just to do that if the dentist were free! Unfortunately, it is not free, so I can only go about twice a year.
I have to remove my wisdom teeth too. It should be fun. I’m going back on Thursday (tomorrow) to see if I need any other work done. My mouth must be having a party!

Burton finally updated their website. Well, maybe I shouldn’t say “finally” since they probably only find the need to revamp their page for every winter season. But then again, “Winter” is different for different locations of the world. Anyway, new site is much better than the old one, at least in terms of navigation.

This has nothing to do with Burton, but Element also updated their site (but I don’t know when they did that exactly). This is one of the board companies that makes me really want to collect skateboard decks.

Steal This Film has a fantastic looking website of text. The film is a documentary about filesharing and it is currently being promoted by The Pirate Bay. I have no idea how good this can be since I don’t seem too interested in a documentary about filesharing. I just honestly thought the website was neat.

new balance 574
If there ever was a superior shoe color scheme, these New Balance 574 shoes would be the ones to own it.

Haha, this Karma tee is the funniest tee I’ve seen in a long time. This one tickles my eyes!!!!! If you’ve got some friends, you should get together and buy from Oddica because the way in which they sell multiple tees is just great!

This link probably won’t last past this season, but I thought it’d be nice to just point out the fact that the Stripes tee (scroll down a bit on the page) in both navy blue and brown are cool. But for 29.90 euro, these tees are sure gonna be a luxury item for me.

ugly
I’ve posted before about the Crooks and Castles CC Toy Tee (above) and I said it was the ugliest design ever because of the ugly crown on the back of the tee. The front by itself would have been a total gem to wear, but then some crackhead designer decided to slap that HUGE crown. Yuck. Anyway, Crooks and Castles have come out with a “version 2″ of that tee called CC Big Toy and again, it looks fantastic. This time there’s no back-side photo of the tee, so let’s just HOPE that there isn’t a nasty big crown on the back. If there isn’t then this tee is gold!

Stage6 is a video sharing site (much like YouTube) by DivX that’s been making some heads turn. The videos that are there are downloadable as divx movies and they load incredibly fast for the quality and size of the video (download the divx plugin for your browser and then watch this video to see an example). It’s nowhere near being a YouTube killer, but with the right promotion, this could very well be since the videos are so damn crisp and large — even at full screen!!!

I love Flickr. I’ve said it many times before. And now I love them even more because they’ve added a totally useful but fun feature that allows you to tag a photo with a geographic location on a map. I’m not the biggest fan of the Yahoo! map look, but it’ll do for this which so far has worked quite smoothly for me in trial and testing. People seem to like the geotagging feature too because only 24 hours after the feature was released, over 1.6 million photos have already been geotagged. That, my friend, is quite a number for 24 hours!
Also, put your Flickr images on a black background.

Various Puma shoes
Umm, ok, not to brag (ok, I’ll brag just a little bit :P), but my boss gave me 5 pairs of shoes on Monday even after I insisted on not taking them! WTF!
You can check out my Flickr photostream if you want to see each shoe. Otherwise, move on, move on, move on…

The disclaimer on the page for the top 100 Wikipedia articles viewed that says “Some of the results may be false or misleading” might hold some truth because there’s no way that the World Wrestling Entertainment roster is #11 and List of big-bust models and performers is #5. That just seems so random to have both of those (and many others on that list) in the top 100 of all of the articles that are on Wikipedia.

I think this is so funny for so many reasons: The PSP’s 2.80 firmware has been hacked and is good to go for homebrew activity. This cat and mouse game that Sony is playing with it’s consumers/fans/hackers is just too much.

Take care ya’ll!

From Yelena’s to me

The 37 minute drive from Yelena’s house to my house in 4 minutes.

Big thanks to Bryan Sutton for the music!

Happy birthday Jo! *UPDATED*

First things first! Happy birthday to Jo!!!

New secrets this week!

Doobyrbain.com on a T-Mobile Sidekick II. Thanks Joel.

I would never wear 121 t-shirts.

canon sd600
For those that are interested in purchasing a new digital camera, the Canon SD600 is on sale at Amazon.com for a low price of $259.95 (but it’s actually $251 when I added it to my cart…so it might be lower than that actually). Also, a 512MB SD card is $4.50 (uhh, jump on this deal NOW!) and if you buy a 512MB with a 1GB together at the same time, it is $18.47 (shipping is a juggernaut of a price though, so up to you — but it’s still very cheap together)!!! The two cards together usually list for $110!!!! THIS IS THE YEAR’S GREATEST SAVING EVER! BUY NOW! BUY NOW!

There are new ‘Get A Mac’ ads out. Boooorrrriinnnnngggggg!

The Office won an Emmy yesterday for Outstanding Comedy Series!!! YAY! Link to more pictures of the cast at the awards ceremony here.

Ahh, Jiffy Lube is outted by NBC! NBC is great because they do thist stuff, and because they air The Office (keep watching those webisodes).

This 2006 Specialized Endura Pro bicycle is a beast! And it’s price of $4400 is a monster as well! [Check out more Specialized bikes on their website]
For half the price of that ($2000), you can get yourself a Santa Cruz Heckler!

These Puma Disc Blaze in a tan/brown color are new to my eyes. How come I don’t see this around anywhere? By the way, Product Wiki is a fun site to play around in.

Take a look at the Smoke Flickr set by The last Danish pastry. All of the images in that set were created by a computer algorithm that’s just way too complicated for me to understand, but definitely not too complicated for me to appreciate. Very pretty images. :)

This is the coolest video I’ve seen all day: See where the Internet lives.

Another neat video from Switchfoot, for their song “We Are One Tonight”. So it’s old, give me a break.

Have a good day!!

Flash Jumping!

Not many people know that my brothers and I have super powers. But yes, it is quite true! Last night, we had to use them for good and for awesome.
We have super powers so powerful that if we were to use them everyday, the Earth would blow up! So try not to get us mad because it just might end the world! YAR!

You stole the show

August 27, 2006 @ 2:12 am

This entry is going to be SOOOO scattered because it was written across the span of 3 days. Wow, be prepared for something that won’t make any chronological sense whatsoever.

Movies I’d like to see:

I might make a page for this.

WHAT?! I had no idea WinXP had a native way to rename multiple files in one sitting! I won’t need this tip since I use A.F.5, but it’s still good to know just in case! This is cool!

My DETAILS magazine subscription started coming in — FINALLY. My gosh, it took a while. I got my August issue, but what I’m really waiting for is the April 2006 backorder issue that I ordered. It’s got something in it that I want to look at. Otherwise, the magazine is just a good bathroom read. Come over and use my toilet if you want to read it.

Make your own map of visited states.

Make your own map of visited countries of the world.

Man…I really have not been anywhere!

CRAZY! But also notice how in Wichita, Kansas, there is nothing else there except roads and cars and tiny buildings in the background. But wow, I have nothing else to say. If I were the reporter, I would have cried.

AWESOME! Thanks Gizmodo.

Heh, it turns out that a tornado really did hit in NY yesterday. But it was in Massapequa, Long Island.

Every weekend until the opening of Uniqlo’s flagship store in SoHo, NY (October 2006), Uniqlo will be dropping what they call “container stores” into NYC neighborhoods. Each container store will look like a truck trailer and be fitted with clothing tailored to each location. This whole thing sounds like a pretty big operation, and with the closing and opening of various smaller stores in NY, I keep wondering how Uniqlo keeps itself afloat. Still, they’re a pretty cool company.

How wide can lens apertures get?! Canon has released the EF 50mm f/1.2L USM Lens! This baby is going to cost a whopping 2 grand or more. Yep, all for a nice, crisp, fixed lens. Wow!

Maybe I’m just slow, but it turns out that Gizmodo also had actual pictures of the pink PSP unit. Nice. Err, JUST KIDDING. UG-A-LY!

Fran (above at last night’s graduation sendoff) said something like this that night: “No comments from the peanut gallery!” That got me and Jane thinking about what the term peanut gallery really meant, because I’ve heard it before, but I never really knew what it was used for. Now I know, thanks to Wikipedia — the best pop-culture, random info, site on the net.
The term really makes me think of “nosebleed seats” or “nosebleed section” of a stadium.

automoblox
Look what I saw with Yelena on Friday night after watching Ted Leo perform at Seaport! I came across a store on Worth St and West Broadway that sold neat toys like Automoblox (the store is called Boomerang Toys)!
We ended the night with dinner at Mary Ann’s Chelsea Mexican restuarant downtown near Stuyvesant (can somebody tell me what is up with Stuy’s logo on their website?!??!??!?!?!). I’ve eaten there before and I personally like the place, despite the mediocre reviews it gets on Yelp (then again, the number of people reviewing it are so low that I wouldn’t even go by those ratings anyway). It’s simple Mexican food and it’s quick.

You know what I’m worried about? I haven’t taken one serious photo this entire summer — and I’ve loved it! And now I’m about to start school in about a week where I will probably be taking serious photos forever. That’s what I’m thinking about!
