Reach out and take it

Wow, I don’t think it’s ever been this hot since I moved to NY. The cars and busses aren’t helping the situation either. That’s why Wednesday’s trip to upstate was good because there are no cars and busses up there. Pam, Simon, So Youn, and I had a bbq (yeah, we know, it got even hotter) and were stuffed to no end. Food was alright, but I think just having people at the house is fun. :)

I really do love these Lego ads. The ads seem to capture the whole essence of the imagination going through a kid’s mind when they play with Legos. Simply brilliant! [via]

The Sideways Bike

The Sideways Bike (shown above) looks like a modified regular bike. But what makes it truly different than any other bike on the market is the fact that the Sideways Bike’s two wheels have independent steering. The bike’s independent steering allows you to glide, slide, make sharper turns, and ride at all sorts of different angles and directions. It’s pretty neat and I’d like to try and ride it to see how easy it is to maneuver. Be sure to check out the videos on the site to see it demonstrated by its creator.

I’m just posting this link to The Format’s website because I think it’s fun to be a flying dog. You can listen to their music on Pure Volume.

Scarlett Johansson looks swell even when she rides a rollercoaster in Coney Island’s Astroland. Anybody want to go here with me? I have never taken a ride on the Cyclone.

I know a couple of people who can’t (or shouldn’t) read doobybrain.com at work because they will more or less be fired!. I just came across workFRIENDLY which disguises any webpage to look like an Office 2003 document, so now all of those people can read doobybrain from work AND look like they are doing work. What a fantastic idea! Of course, webpages don’t look all the same when “converted” to Office 2003 format, but for the most part, doobybrain remains intact.

I watched Little Manhattan with Pam when I was upstate the other day. The two lovers in the movie ventured into what they said was NYC’s smallest public park–a tiny strip of park space located between two buildings on the Upper West Side). I didn’t quite catch the name or exact location of the place, but I knew that I wanted to visit and check it out someday (because it looked really cool in the movie…plus, anything that touts itself as “the smallest…” is worth visiting). Anyway, it turns out that the park is called Septuagismo Uno (meaning 71 in Latin). The park is located on 71st street between Amsterdam and West End avenues and takes up a total of .04 acres of land.
Also take a look at the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation’s Parks Locator map. That’s how Pam found the 71st street park. Thanks dude!

I haven’t bought a proper tripod yet so I haven’t really bothered trying the HDR image processing in Photoshop either, but I do hear lots of good things about it. HDR images are supposed to more accurately represent what the human eye sees in terms of lighting and exposure in an image. And yes, I know I can just prop the camera somewhere and snap away, but it’s just not the same as having the versatility of a true tripod at hand. By the way, Gitzo’s webpage is incredible annoying and bad. How the heck am I supposed to go look at tripod specs on a page like that?! All that flash nonsense!
Check out Kris Kros’ HDR images on Flickr.

Speaking of Flickr, the Blink of an Eye photo competition winners have been announced. I really like echo 1 by Kristal. Do take a look at the thousands of other photographs submitted to Flickr’s Blink of an Eye contest.

JG4B bikinis

It’s a known fact to some that I think black bikinis and swimsuits are gross. I just don’t think they make people look good despite the arguments that people give me about how it makes them look thinner and exaggerates their curves (BS! Just admit it, you are boring.). Not that I’m in the market to buy a bikini anytime soon, but when I found JG4B, I immediately thought “My goodness, this is what people with black bikinis should be wearing”. Hahaha! Their 2006 collection is pretty colorful and unique which I absolutely love [on other people]. [via]
If you would like to purchase one of the many bikini designs for use during the rest of this SUPER HOT summer season, then you can head over to Charlotte Ronson [Google Maps link]. That store supposedly stocks the JG4B brand.

Please try to stay cool, ok?
I think some people make odd bedfellows. Seriously.
