Herman said I could post these, so here they are. These are from this past Wednesday with Marissa and Jenna. He’ll be back in full swing here tomorrow, or as soon as his body is done being sick. Until then, and just FYI, any post with this ‘Corpus Doobus’ author is just the rest of the team filling in. Thanks!
THURSDAY IS A GREAT DAY
September 28, 2006 @ 12:47 pm
I am at work. And people are in meetings. And I am fooling around on the computer. Great!
I went to the Sky Mirror at Rockefeller Center the other night. Boy was I disappointed. It was so lame. I arrived at the place and was like, you gotta be kidding, this is what the Sky Mirror is??!! I was seriously let down. The Cloud Gate (or “bean”), also made by Anish Kapoor, in Chicago’s Millennium Park is waaaayyyy cooler and more visually interesting (I may actually get a chance to see this magnificient beast in person in about a month or so!!!!!!!!!!!). The Sky Mirror is just so retarded, I can’t put it into words. I took pictures and promptly deleted them when I got home. That’s how incredibly ridiculous this Sky Mirror thing was. If anything, the Sky Mirror is cool for a hot 2 seconds because it is simply a big reflective object. But if you see it in person, you’ll quickly (and I do mean quickly) get over that fact and realize that you just wasted your time in stopping by there.
Related fact: The Sky Mirror at Rockefeller Center is actually a larger version of another sculpture of the same name and by the same artist at the Nottingham Playhouse.
If you are shopping at The PUMA Store online and you want free shipping, enter the code “4FREE” at checkout and you’ll get free shipping.
Don’t forget: The Kidrobot store (it’s one word, I’ve realized) re-launches today from 7-9PM at 126 Prince St (NYC). I want to win something for absolutely nothing. Jean shall be my accomplice. Look for us.
There’s a ginormous earwig in Germany. How that bug got there, I have no idea. But I think it’s funny. And yes, this is really on Google Maps.
Esquire magazine has been releasing one photograph per month since June to hint towards their Sexiest Woman Alive feature. They haven’t officially said who she is yet, but judging by the photos and some of the interview clues, I can bet that Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive for 2006 is Scarlett Johansson. Plus, SJ (you know, because she and I are good friends) is just blowing up right now.
Wow, the Audi R8 is a nice piece of machinery.
I don’t follow sports much at all, but if I had to pick a sport to enjoy, it would probably be football. Ever since watching my first football game at Rutgers, I’ve been really itching to go see another one. It’s just so fun to be there at the stadium and cheer and shout and act silly. Anyway, check out the video below that shows one of football’s most intense games ever between California & Stanford.
I didn’t really understand the video at first (see? I love sports!) so I went ahead and read up on “The Play” at Wikipedia. Turns out that the Bears (California) did the seemingly impossible (or at least the very very very very very very very very hard) by using 5 consecutive lateral passes (heh, I had to look that one up too!) to eventually score a touchdown in the last 4 seconds of the game. The Play is #16 on the list of the 100 most unexpected TV moments by TV Guide and TV Land.
Holy crap, why did I ever leave Rutgers? Look at the designs in the design competition for College Avenue campus at Rutgers New Brunswick! According to the plans however, there will be a new academic building directly on the location where the grease trucks currently make their business. What will happen to them?! I must go and see and eat some. MMmmm! Fat cats!!
I actually miss being at a normal school with normal people doing normal things. Parsons is full of burn-outs who wish they were born in another decade than their own. Hahaha, if there ever was a stereotypical and over-arching description of the people at my school, that would be it!!
Reviewers on Amazon.com are saying exactly what I am saying about FutureSex/LoveSounds, the new Justin Timberlake album.
Black Friday is more than a month away, but Gotta Deal already has their Black Friday 2006 deal site online and ready for sneak peaks!
Sad news: Microsoft Zune will not be $229 (as previously reported). It will, instead, be priced at $249.99.
Umm, what is up with the ugly Yahoo!-branded Flickr sign-in page? I liked their previous page better with the choice of logging in with your Yahoo! account or your “old school” Flickr account.
I think The Areas of My Expertise by John Hodgman (of recent I’m a PC Apple ad fame) would be fun to read.
I have a busy and fun weekend ahead (NO CLASS ON MONDAY!!!!). So if I see you, you know you’re incredibly important to me. Cheers! :)

This interactive periodic table is for the nerd inside me.
This Krink is for the vandal inside me. I almost bought some. I went all the way to “checkout” and then I backed out. I realized that 8 ounces sounds more than it really is.
It’s Google’s 8th birthday today!

Indexed is pretty funny. It pokes fun at people’s rational through pseudo-mathematical drawings and explanations.
The most important question of the age: Does it bother anybody else that the black power ranger was black? On Facebook, of all places!
Guess what? CHICKEN BUTT! So many varieties you just might have a hard time choosing.
Oldies are the goodies. Or, actually, maybe it should be oldie goodies.
Send an ass in a box. Because you have nothing better to do. HAHAHA!
FANTASTIC! Need For Speed Carbon gameplay video! DRIFT!!
City from APT is awesome. I want one for my new room. In fact, all of their products are pretty wild and they have fun color schemes.
The Office outtakes from last week’s season 3 pilot episode!!! This is probably gonne be like this for every new episode!!!!!!
This is the pilot episode of Family Guy that Seth MacFarlane submitted to Fox. A lot of stuff here made it to the real pilot episode, so you might recognize a lot of the jokes and gags. Look at the drawing and animation. The voices are a bit different too!!!!
Nuked Soap – video powered by Metacafe
Because I know we’re all wanting to try it, here’s a video of soap in a microwave so that we don’t all try it. Dang, that thing is like a monster!!
This is pretty hard. Find all of the 50 dark movies in this M&M scene. It’s an advertisement for their dark chocolate M&M’s. I got 29 out of 50. Remember to turn the sound off because it gets annoying really fast!
AHHH! SanDisk has released the world’s largest compact flash memory card! The new SanDisk Extreme III CF cards come in 2 new [and huge] sizes: 12GB for $779.99 and 16GB for $1049.99! You can see hi-res photos of the new products here.
Dwight and Angela get their own tribute video too!
Here’s Pam and Jim’s if you forgot. WHEE!
These Supreme skateboard decks by Jeff Koons are pretty neat. I want to go back to the Supreme store for no reason at all!!!
I saw one of the new colorful iPod nano music players in person the other day. They really do look nice. The ad is nice too. NICE NICE NICE!!!

Umm, I always thought that Gin Blossoms had broken up a while back. But it turns out that they just released a new album not too long ago entitled Major Lodge Victory. I’ve been listening to it and so far I like it. It’s still got that good solid 90’s alternative rock sound which I like. But it’s not all that. They put some modern mojo in there too.
I am about to buy Tetris DS. Ok, just bought it. I bought this too. I want to buy the King of Hearts tee from Tank Theory. By the way, Tank Theory’s print ads are pretty inspiring. See Public Ad Campaign for some more visual goodies.
The Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Makeup advertisement features 6 women all naked and/or in only underwear. The advertisement for it is incredibly big in the window at the 34th street Victoria’s Secret location. It kind of makes me feel weird when I walk by it because it’s basically 6 enourmous naked entities (not ‘tities’) staring down at you. You can see a small online version of the ad on the Very Sexy Makeup main page.

Have you ever seen an RC car drift?

I want one. I wonder if they’re hard to drive. More info here [SG Drifters].
Some books were made of smiles
September 23, 2006 @ 1:59 am

Here’s the first edition cover that I have. The second batch of books being printed now have a different cover. I guess I’m lucky to have this one. :P
Believe it or not, after many many many months, I have finally finished reading the great comic epic, Bone: One Volume Edition. Checking my Amazon.com order history, it looks like I bought the book back on December 17, 2004!!! Wow! It’s not that I’m a slow reader or anything. It’s just that since I’ve purchased the book, I’ve only had limited time to sit down and actually read the thing. I’d say, however, that the bulk of the book was read in the past half year (that way, it was fresh each time I picked it back up to read). :)
I really enjoyed reading it. Sure, it’s very much like a cartoon-ish LOTR, but it’s still different enough to go in its own territory. The characters were developed pretty well and if I can say, it is probably one of the most thought out comics I’ve ever read. It’s like reading a book but completely illustrated all the way through. Heh, I guess that’s what a comic is. It’s good though and if you can, you should pick it up and read it. I recommend it.

This is how fat the comic/book is. Yep, like a large-print Bible (but totally different content).
The book has actually since gone back to the press and it has received a new front cover. Check out more about the author and his other projects at Boneville.com.
Now that I’ve finished that book, I went ahead and looked at my bookshelf to see if there’s anything there I haven’t read yet. I’m sorta trying to have my own collection of books, so every once in a while, if I see a good book (or hear about a really good book, I’ll buy it and put it on my shelf to read in the future. So I take a look at my shelf and this book that I didn’t even buy catches my eye. It’s called Letters From A Nut by Ted L. Nancy. The book title sounded familiar but I couldn’t remember buying the book (and plus, it didn’t have a book sleeve — I always keep the book sleeves — so I knew I didn’t buy it), so I checked the inside and sure enough, it said that the book belonged to Ada. It just so happens that Ada lent me this book way back in my junior year of high school. She and I forgot all about it and she never asked for it back and only now am I beginning to crack the covers and read it.
Man, I should have started reading it before because the book is really funny! It’s about this guy who writes fake [and sometimes obnoxious] letters to real companies, hotels, and places, and either asks for ridiculous things or makes very odd comments about service and hospitality. It’s basically Ted L. Nancy making up stories and letters and sending them off as official compliments and/or requests. Then, next to his printed letter, Nancy includes the responses from the companies and individuals to whom he originally addressed his letters to. It’s just so funny to read how they think he’s so serious.

I’ll be reading this short gem. Almost done with it actually. It’s a quick read. :)
Ada, if you read this at all, your book is in good hands. I’ll return it to you as soon as I’m done (or as soon as I come to Boston). I hope you haven’t been looking for this book! :P
Speaking of books, use ISBN Spy to check whether or not your book is cheaper on Amazon.com when you’re shopping in a local bookstore. It’s kind of a nifty little online tool that I wish was embedded into my skull.
ISBNspy.com is a free service for users with internet-enabled mobile phones.
Use it to lookup the price and rating of a book on your mobile phone while you’re still in the bookstore or while you’re on the go.
If you like what you find, send the results to your email address and buy it on Amazon.com when you get home.
Good idea, no? I think so.
Many of you probably know I’m a big reader of magazines, and recently, Details magazine has been coming in like mad! I’m not saying that I get multiple copies of the same issue. What I mean is, Details magazine comes in at rapid-fire speed for every single month! It’s a monthly magazine, but it seems like the magazine has been coming every two weeks. I have 3 Details magazines (August, September, and now October) and I haven’t even finished August yet! WHAT THE HECK! SLOW DOWN PLEASE!
Haha, I know the following photo is not a book, but I thought I’d brag about the new industrial floor fan that I have in my room. This fan is powerful. It cools me down so fast that I barely get the chance to complain about how hot my room is! That’s how crazy good it is. Come over and experience this amazing fan in all of its glory. You won’t be disappointed by its 3 speeds either. Trust me, you need to get the air from this thing.
Oh, and by the way, we have officially hit autumnal [fall] equinox! It’s time for shorter amounts of daylight hours and longer nights. That same time when classes begin to end at “night” instead of “day”. I, for one, am excited for the change to cooler weather. :)
