If we’re under the covers, it’s gonna be A-okay, A-okay

I just finished taking photos with a Sinar 4×5 view camera. It is, by far, the most complicated thing I’ve done in photography yet! But it’s fun!

One lucky kid at Hunter College High School (yes, the castle) has unearthed one of graffiti’s instant gems! I must say, if I ever got my hands on graffiti-legend Sane’s textbook, I would totally steal it and gladly pay the fine for a replacement.
Not that NYC public schools are very big on the stolen textbook thing anyway because 1) kids have better things to steal these days; 2) even if you stole the textbook, it is very likely that nobody will even know or notice. I should know, my shelf at home has its own good share of “stolen” (rather, forgot-to-return) textbooks. Feel free to come over and learn.
Here’s the Sane Smith textbook Flickr set.

Seapking of graffiti, a British street artist known as Moose is turning the tables on authorities when it comes to vandalism. Moose is creating graffiti with the negative space left behind after cleaning dirty walls and signs.

A British street artist known as Moose creates graffiti by cleaning dirt from sidewalks and tunnels — sometimes for money when the images are used as advertising. But some authorities call it vandalism.

Moose, whose real name is Paul Curtis, tells NPR’s Steve Inskeep that he got the idea when he saw that people had written their names with their fingers on dirty tunnel walls in his hometown of Leeds. Moose does some freehand drawing, but also uses the grid from wall tiles to create perfect shapes and letters.

I think that’s a pretty neat idea and a wonderful way to execute it. I guess graffiti in the UK will need a new definition soon. [via]

iTunes 7
This past Tuesday, Apple had a special event where they released “new” iPods, colorful iPod nano music players, the world’s smallest digital music player, a revamped iTunes Store, and a new release of iTunes among some other not-so-significant products and upgrades.

I think the release I was most excited for was the iTunes update. They’ve added a couple of new features both for the player itself and for iPod management. Plus, iTunes and iPods both support gapless playback now which I am so glad they finally incorporated (took them long enough though). Visually, iTunes is just more bearable as well, and that awesome album art jukebox-like scroller is beautiful! :)

New firmware updates for video iPods bring a nifty new scroll-search feature that helps a lot with long lists of artists and songs. It also finally gives users a brightness setting for the iPod backlight.
I’ll at least say that the new iPod nano ads are awesome though. I’m really liking them.

Gmail now has this little tiny message next to your email address when an email is sent with several email addresses, one of which is yours. The message is as follows: (Yes, this is you. Learn more.)
I guess they just wanted to clarify that you aren’t receiving somebody else’s email. Maybe that was a persistent question they kept receiving.

Hehehe, this entry for sh*ts and giggles at Urban Dictionary is funny to me for some reason.

Bed Jumping reminds me of the pictures I took recently that I called Flash Jumping. The only big difference being that Bed Jumping is solely for those who jump on hotel beds. WEIRD!

Un-news: Borat is probably the most inappropriate movie you will ever see this year. I can’t wait until Borat comes out in theaters November 3! :)

For those who are traveling, this airport wireless internet access guide might come in handy. My local celebrity airport, JFK has free wifi access all around. Nice!

Hot on the trails of alienating many of its users with the News Feed and Mini Feed, Facebook is set to make all hell break loose once more with the announcement that they will open the site up to the public. Pretty soon, you won’t need a “.edu” or institutional email address to sign up for Facebook.

Sorry for all of the 9/11 videos lately, but I think to some extent, they’re important to watch. Gothamist linked to this never-before-seen home video of the attacks on the WTC. Again, I didn’t want to embed the video, so if you want to watch it, just click the link.
I never took note of this, but here’s a screenshot to what Google’s homepage looked like on 9/11/2001.

Jay Leno had a proper tribute to the late Steve Irwin following the news of his death a couple of weeks ago.

Just a heads up: Microsoft’s Zune portable media player is gonna be released tomorrow (the website is just a teaser for now…).

I’m pooped to the max. Sleep and then some “urban artwork” later tonight/early morning (before sunrise).

what is the “nifty new scroll-search feature” you speak of? i saw the new search thing in the “features” part of the new ipods, but a firmware update didn’t seem to change the search settings on my 5G ipod. i did see the backlight brightness setting, however.

heh, just in case: the 5G ipods only show the new scroll feature when you scroll really fast through lists in your ipod. at that point, a grey box will show up with large letters jumping from letter to letter.
