Some books were made of smiles

Here’s the first edition cover that I have. The second batch of books being printed now have a different cover. I guess I’m lucky to have this one. :P
Believe it or not, after many many many months, I have finally finished reading the great comic epic, Bone: One Volume Edition. Checking my Amazon.com order history, it looks like I bought the book back on December 17, 2004!!! Wow! It’s not that I’m a slow reader or anything. It’s just that since I’ve purchased the book, I’ve only had limited time to sit down and actually read the thing. I’d say, however, that the bulk of the book was read in the past half year (that way, it was fresh each time I picked it back up to read). :)
I really enjoyed reading it. Sure, it’s very much like a cartoon-ish LOTR, but it’s still different enough to go in its own territory. The characters were developed pretty well and if I can say, it is probably one of the most thought out comics I’ve ever read. It’s like reading a book but completely illustrated all the way through. Heh, I guess that’s what a comic is. It’s good though and if you can, you should pick it up and read it. I recommend it.

This is how fat the comic/book is. Yep, like a large-print Bible (but totally different content).
The book has actually since gone back to the press and it has received a new front cover. Check out more about the author and his other projects at Boneville.com.
Now that I’ve finished that book, I went ahead and looked at my bookshelf to see if there’s anything there I haven’t read yet. I’m sorta trying to have my own collection of books, so every once in a while, if I see a good book (or hear about a really good book, I’ll buy it and put it on my shelf to read in the future. So I take a look at my shelf and this book that I didn’t even buy catches my eye. It’s called Letters From A Nut by Ted L. Nancy. The book title sounded familiar but I couldn’t remember buying the book (and plus, it didn’t have a book sleeve — I always keep the book sleeves — so I knew I didn’t buy it), so I checked the inside and sure enough, it said that the book belonged to Ada. It just so happens that Ada lent me this book way back in my junior year of high school. She and I forgot all about it and she never asked for it back and only now am I beginning to crack the covers and read it.
Man, I should have started reading it before because the book is really funny! It’s about this guy who writes fake [and sometimes obnoxious] letters to real companies, hotels, and places, and either asks for ridiculous things or makes very odd comments about service and hospitality. It’s basically Ted L. Nancy making up stories and letters and sending them off as official compliments and/or requests. Then, next to his printed letter, Nancy includes the responses from the companies and individuals to whom he originally addressed his letters to. It’s just so funny to read how they think he’s so serious.

I’ll be reading this short gem. Almost done with it actually. It’s a quick read. :)
Ada, if you read this at all, your book is in good hands. I’ll return it to you as soon as I’m done (or as soon as I come to Boston). I hope you haven’t been looking for this book! :P
Speaking of books, use ISBN Spy to check whether or not your book is cheaper on Amazon.com when you’re shopping in a local bookstore. It’s kind of a nifty little online tool that I wish was embedded into my skull.
ISBNspy.com is a free service for users with internet-enabled mobile phones.
Use it to lookup the price and rating of a book on your mobile phone while you’re still in the bookstore or while you’re on the go.
If you like what you find, send the results to your email address and buy it on Amazon.com when you get home.
Good idea, no? I think so.
Many of you probably know I’m a big reader of magazines, and recently, Details magazine has been coming in like mad! I’m not saying that I get multiple copies of the same issue. What I mean is, Details magazine comes in at rapid-fire speed for every single month! It’s a monthly magazine, but it seems like the magazine has been coming every two weeks. I have 3 Details magazines (August, September, and now October) and I haven’t even finished August yet! WHAT THE HECK! SLOW DOWN PLEASE!
Haha, I know the following photo is not a book, but I thought I’d brag about the new industrial floor fan that I have in my room. This fan is powerful. It cools me down so fast that I barely get the chance to complain about how hot my room is! That’s how crazy good it is. Come over and experience this amazing fan in all of its glory. You won’t be disappointed by its 3 speeds either. Trust me, you need to get the air from this thing.
Oh, and by the way, we have officially hit autumnal [fall] equinox! It’s time for shorter amounts of daylight hours and longer nights. That same time when classes begin to end at “night” instead of “day”. I, for one, am excited for the change to cooler weather. :)
