THURSDAY IS A GREAT DAY

September 28, 2006 @ 12:47 pm

I am at work. And people are in meetings. And I am fooling around on the computer. Great!

I went to the Sky Mirror at Rockefeller Center the other night. Boy was I disappointed. It was so lame. I arrived at the place and was like, you gotta be kidding, this is what the Sky Mirror is??!! I was seriously let down. The Cloud Gate (or “bean”), also made by Anish Kapoor, in Chicago’s Millennium Park is waaaayyyy cooler and more visually interesting (I may actually get a chance to see this magnificient beast in person in about a month or so!!!!!!!!!!!). The Sky Mirror is just so retarded, I can’t put it into words. I took pictures and promptly deleted them when I got home. That’s how incredibly ridiculous this Sky Mirror thing was. If anything, the Sky Mirror is cool for a hot 2 seconds because it is simply a big reflective object. But if you see it in person, you’ll quickly (and I do mean quickly) get over that fact and realize that you just wasted your time in stopping by there.
Related fact: The Sky Mirror at Rockefeller Center is actually a larger version of another sculpture of the same name and by the same artist at the Nottingham Playhouse.

If you are shopping at The PUMA Store online and you want free shipping, enter the code “4FREE” at checkout and you’ll get free shipping.

Don’t forget: The Kidrobot store (it’s one word, I’ve realized) re-launches today from 7-9PM at 126 Prince St (NYC). I want to win something for absolutely nothing. Jean shall be my accomplice. Look for us.

There’s a ginormous earwig in Germany. How that bug got there, I have no idea. But I think it’s funny. And yes, this is really on Google Maps.

Esquire magazine has been releasing one photograph per month since June to hint towards their Sexiest Woman Alive feature. They haven’t officially said who she is yet, but judging by the photos and some of the interview clues, I can bet that Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive for 2006 is Scarlett Johansson. Plus, SJ (you know, because she and I are good friends) is just blowing up right now.

Wow, the Audi R8 is a nice piece of machinery.

I don’t follow sports much at all, but if I had to pick a sport to enjoy, it would probably be football. Ever since watching my first football game at Rutgers, I’ve been really itching to go see another one. It’s just so fun to be there at the stadium and cheer and shout and act silly. Anyway, check out the video below that shows one of football’s most intense games ever between California & Stanford.

I didn’t really understand the video at first (see? I love sports!) so I went ahead and read up on “The Play” at Wikipedia. Turns out that the Bears (California) did the seemingly impossible (or at least the very very very very very very very very hard) by using 5 consecutive lateral passes (heh, I had to look that one up too!) to eventually score a touchdown in the last 4 seconds of the game. The Play is #16 on the list of the 100 most unexpected TV moments by TV Guide and TV Land.

Holy crap, why did I ever leave Rutgers? Look at the designs in the design competition for College Avenue campus at Rutgers New Brunswick! According to the plans however, there will be a new academic building directly on the location where the grease trucks currently make their business. What will happen to them?! I must go and see and eat some. MMmmm! Fat cats!!
I actually miss being at a normal school with normal people doing normal things. Parsons is full of burn-outs who wish they were born in another decade than their own. Hahaha, if there ever was a stereotypical and over-arching description of the people at my school, that would be it!!

Reviewers on Amazon.com are saying exactly what I am saying about FutureSex/LoveSounds, the new Justin Timberlake album.

Black Friday is more than a month away, but Gotta Deal already has their Black Friday 2006 deal site online and ready for sneak peaks!

Sad news: Microsoft Zune will not be $229 (as previously reported). It will, instead, be priced at $249.99.

Umm, what is up with the ugly Yahoo!-branded Flickr sign-in page? I liked their previous page better with the choice of logging in with your Yahoo! account or your “old school” Flickr account.

I think The Areas of My Expertise by John Hodgman (of recent I’m a PC Apple ad fame) would be fun to read.

I have a busy and fun weekend ahead (NO CLASS ON MONDAY!!!!). So if I see you, you know you’re incredibly important to me. Cheers! :)
