A link here, a link there. Touchdown!

Happy Halloween! I missed a midterm this morning because I overslept. Talk about waking up scared half to death! Hahaha, I’ll live though. My grades, however, will probably need some resuscitation. Who knows though, miracles happen every single day.

I get rhythm from my dad. Look at him drum.

Hmm, seeing your rapist in the newspaper might be weird. Good, straight-up writing (that’s why I’m posting it).

Did you know that some cell phones have water damage indicator stickers to tell companies whether or not you voided your warranty by getting your phone wet? I don’t see one on my phone, so I guess I have nothing to worry about. Or…maybe I do, since there are multiple ways to tell if your phone has been wet.

Because I feel like it: Emoticon list for Gmail chat (NOT Gtalk).

Below are parts 1 and 2 of the Borat segment on Comedy Central. Obviously, to promote his movie film. This film gets released THIS FRIDAY! :)

If you’re at all interested, you should check out the customer reviews for the Borat soundtrack CD on iTunes (you’ll need iTunes for that link). The reviews are funny because they are almost all written in the same way that Borat speaks!

“Brooklyn is where legends are made and where dreams come true.” Check out new photos of the inside of the Loews Kings Theater, definitely one of the gems of the famed Loews Wonder Theaters that were built around NYC. Watch the video of the Loews Kings Theater here [mpg].
What a fantastic place! It kinda reminds me of the Ziegfeld Theater near Times Square, except that the Kings Theater is much much much more glamorous and beautiful. And for those of you who forgot why the Kings Theater is in Brooklyn, here’s a reminder for you that Kings County and Brooklyn are coterminous.

People, please. The touch screen converter video I made was, and still is, a joke. The comments under the YouTube video page are making me laugh too much!

I almost died last week because there was no new episode of The Office! But thankfully, there’s a new episode airing this Thursday. Whew! I can live and laugh again! :)

Alright, if you’re up late tonight, give me an IM because I’ll most certainly be up and in need of a good distraction. I’m making a powerpoint presentation and writing a paper! :)

The 400 club

October 30, 2006 @ 1:02 am

This week is going to be my first killer week of the semester. I have a pseudo-exam on Tuesday and then a presentation + paper due on Wednesday. It shouldn’t be too bad, but it’ll just be a different week than most I’ve been having up until now. I hope I get enough sleep the next few days because I want enough energy to enjoy Mute Math when I go with Simon to see them on Wednesday night! YESSSSS!!!! I’m expecting this upcoming concert to be a bit more crowded than their previous ones because Mute Math is sorta hitting it big time lately. But that’s good news for them, and unlike some other folks, I’ll stick by their music as they get more and more well-known. Good music is good music. :)

Here’s a sampling of what I’m gonna be seeing this Wednesday…!

Dusty and Birthday Card
My sister Tiffany sent me a pretty awesome and simple birthday card on my birthday. She chose a good one considering the fact that I’ve been crazy about cats lately. WHEEE!

You can look at live cam feeds of Huntington Beach in California through the Hollister website now (it’s North Pier and South Pier).
Oh yeah, and they have new music up. Always good for a listen when you have nothing to listen to.

The new Logitech diNovo Edge keyboard is sexy and thin. If I got that and the MX Revolution mouse, wow, my hands would probably blow up from excitement.

My goodness, I could make good use of 100 DVD recordable discs for $25.

PUMA’s website is the worst because I can’t permalink anything! Stupid flash websites.

hairymail.jpg
Why not send a friend (or an enemy) some Hairy Mail? Yum! BARF! Interestingly enough, Hairy Mail is brought to you by the anti-smoking group, Truth.

Haha, this is a great commercial for the Mazda 2 with automatic gear shift. [via]

This is the most intense domino-effect video I’ve ever seen. It’s so long! [video link here]

OMG. You can press * on your phone to bypass the “When you’re finished recording, you may hang up or press 1 for more options” message when you are leaving somebody voicemail! This is GOLD!!

If this new Cadillac ad is proving anything, it’s definitely proving that they don’t make cool looking cars anymore, except for maybe their concept ones, like the Cien or the Sixteen. [via]

large-timbuk2.jpg
Have you played around with Timbuk2’s new and improved BYOB interface? My goodness, it’s a big up from their last installment of the customized process. What’s even better is that now their colors are true to what they will look like in real life. Previously, Timbuk2 had a big problem with representing their color combinations to look like how they would when you actually received the bag.
If I were to buy a new Timbuk2, I would jump for the L-sized one in the colors shown above. These days, the M-size is getting a bit cramped for my style.

postcard-polaroid.jpg
Along with PostSecret and Stains On Paper, Postcard Polaroid looks to be the third in a series of pretty interesting mail-in projects created by bored individuals. Heck, I didn’t even know you could slap a stamp on a Polaroid and just send it like that. I wonder what else you can slap a stamp on to get it to its destination!

There are some big changes coming! Have you heard?!!??!?!?!?!?!!!!???

You get Vaseline, and you get Vaseline, and you get Vaseline…!!!!!

October 29, 2006 @ 5:34 pm

I think this video is a bit dated, but I just came across it now.
Tyra Banks literally goes insane over Vaseline. Vaseline is her secret eye-and-any-thing cream. Wow, some secret. And wow, she’s crazy!

*UPDATE*

It turns out that the episode of Tyra that that video above is from was a spoof of the episode where Oprah gave away cars on her show. It was all in good fun, as you can read below.

MESSAGE FROM TYRA: What’s Up with the Vaseline?

Hi Everybody,

I had a ball giving away that bejeweled VASELINE on the show! I really have used it since I was a little girl, and my mom is addicted to it too. I hope you all got my joke when I was acting all crazy. I was acting all high energy and super excited about the VASELINE giveaway because I was spoofing the time Oprah gave away cars on her show a few years ago. In fact, I actually studied that Oprah episode and copied her body movements and phrases she used, exactly like she did them. But a spoof wouldn’t be a spoof without a little (or a lot) of exaggeration, so I had to be over the top with it. If you noticed, we put my VASELINE jar on a key chain to push the Oprah car spoof up one extra notch. It was soooooo much fun. I made sure my office called Oprah’s office to make sure they knew it was all in fun. I love Oprah, and she has a great sense of humor and I wanted to make sure she knew the spoof was all in love. She’s my idol. I actually pay MAJOR homage to Oprah on “America’s Next Top Model” this season. It’s coming up so you have to watch “Top Model” to see what I do. It’s a lot of love, mixed with a lil’ bit of spoof, done in that campy way we do things on “Top Model.”

But getting back to the Vaseline. Years ago, Vaseline heard I was a fan of the product, and they sent me a bling bling jar of the product. I loved that hot little jar of Vaseline and wanted to share that with my audience. Each jar I gave to the studio audience was worth $100. I know that’s a whole lotta money for some Vaseline, but it’s because they were all hand beaded with Swarovski crystals. But underneath all that bling is just a regular jar of Vaseline that you can get at the drugstore or in your own medicine cabinet. I have been reading your messages and a lot of you are concerned that putting Vaseline on your face is not the best thing to do. I have very dry skin, so Vaseline is great for the skin on my face. But if you have oily or acne prone skin, you should probably keep the ‘LINE (nickname for Vaseline – pronounced “LEENE”) off of your face.

Today, my feet were really ashy, and I put some Vaseline on them before I put my socks on. I just got home. (I went to the movies today to see CRANK. That movie ROCKED. It was sooooo good. It was really violent though and has some sexual stuff that is too strong for the young’uns out there. So I am NOT recommending that people under 18 years old see it! That Jason Stratham – star of the flick – is one sexy dude.) But anyway, I came home from the movies and took my socks off and my feet were ash free. They were glowing!!! Vaseline came to the rescue!!!

I wanna thank all of you for all of your tips on how to get rid of my rough hands. I am trying your advice. I tried the tip today that one of you gave me that involves baking soda. My hands are soft, Soft, SOFT! I’m going to keep trying the tips. Thanks everybody!!!

Much Love,
Tyra

Thanks JJ for correction and the heads up! I still think its a hilarious video though. Hehehe. :)

You know what’s romantic?

I’m not the only person who thinks the Sky Mirror was a complete waste of time. The Sky Mirror went away on October 27. Finally.

The Sims go swimming in an iPod screen!
Cool LRG tee (in black).

Good news: Starting January 4, 2007, JetBlue will begin flying from NYC’s JFK Int’l Airport to Chicago’s O’Hare Airport! If you buy a ticket now, you can get to Chicago and back for $89 each way! Nice!

I just finished watching High School Musical (thanks Meggie for the DVD) and I might be the last to jump aboard the Vanessa Hudgens train. But who cares! Embedded above is her music video for her single from her CD, V.
She’s pretty, and it’s no wonder that she is since, according to Wikipedia, she’s part — get ready for it – Irish, Native American, Filipino, Chinese, and Spanish. :)
Dang though, High School Musical was soooo cheesy. It made me laugh for all the wrong reasons! :P

worlds-best-boss
Look what Pam got me!! How wonderful! I’m glad I can be the world’s best boss every single day! :) I love drinking out of this thing. It makes me feel like I’m part of The Office! Plus, it makes me laugh when I pick it up.

NBC uploaded a 9-second video of their logo on YouTube yesterday. Reason? I have no idea. It’s so pointless. WTH is that yellow non-moving object on the left?!?!
Related: CBS has a YouTube account too. CBS is the first TV network to utilize YouTube’s new advanced content identification architecture and reporting system.

Marco Tempest’s newest camera phone trick is easy to figure out. You can literally see them behind that jacket-stand-in. And if you’re interested, here’s a Flickr image set of some behind-the-scenes shots. Yep, I definitely saw him a week ago.

I know all of you want to, so here is Kevin Federline’s entire new album in streaming goodness, courtesy of AOL Music. Thanks AOL, you make the world a better place. -_-

Tell all of your friends who are visiting NYC this winter that if they take a cab, they’ll be paying DOUBLE as much to sit in traffic than NY’ers currently do at the moment. The new fare increase from 20 cents to 40 cents for idle traffic in a taxi will begin December 2006 (this year)!
You know that neat [and very old looking] little yellow map that passengers see when they enter a NYC yellow cab? Well, I just found a pdf of it on the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission website. [pdf file here]

Another place to fall

October 26, 2006 @ 5:06 am

Firefox 2 was released this past week and I’m seriously loving the built-in spell checker! It’s so awesome and it works so well! But I do miss the single “close tab” button on the right side of the tab bar. But I guess I can sorta get used to only having those close buttons on each tab. If you haven’t already, you should upgrade.
TIP: The button to un-close a closed tab is CTRL+SHIFT+T

rapistnews.jpg
Ladies and gentlemen, look out for this rapist above. Please. Thanks Joyce for the heads up! Hahahaha :(

Wouldn’t this lighthouse be a nice place to be right now? I think so. It’s very far away though, at the tip of Long Island.

WHOOOOAAA. YouTube was down early this morning for some reason. Looks like that reason was to implement a new logo with a new slogan.

This photo makes me laugh.

For those of you who forgot, the latest PostSecret book was released on Tuesday. The book is titled, PostSecret: My Secret, and it is available on Amazon.com for $11.97 (as of this post).
Keep in mind that the third book in the PostSecret series is set to be released on January 1, 2007. Mark your calendars and pick it up!

This band aid skateboard deck is by far one of the coolest skateboard decks I’ve ever seen. My goal to collect skateboard decks when I get real rich is still alive.

Holy crap. On Tuesday, Lik-Sang, one of the net’s sole distributors of overseas market consoles, was shut down because of multiple lawsuits brought on by Sony Corp. They were expensive, sure, but they also got units into people’s hands before those units were even on store shelves in their country. Plus, they had nice third-party accessories.

This is so true. Oh, and pretty amusing. The video editing is pretty sick I think. It’s amateur, but it looks good that way.
The song/video sort of reminds me of New Friend Request by Gym Class Heroes.

all-new-ls.jpg
The all-new Lexus LS is so awesome. Yeah, it’s the car that has more technology than NASA [exaggeration].

Febie license plate
Speaking of cars, look what my sister Tiffany just got on her car! I wonder if DOOBY is taken or if DBYBRN is available.

This photo is 8.6 GP (Giga Pixels). Yep. Giga. Yeah, that’s real big. Yeah, that’s real detailed. Yeah, that’s just insane. Check it out. Look how far you can zoom in!!

This is part of the reason why I want to visit Japan: because they have advertising in all the good places!

Nacho Libre is on DVD. :)

Just in time for Halloween, here’s how to make a tampon ghost and a tampon bat. Real spooky. Yep.

High School Musical is on tour!! Where’s Meggie?!??!??!!

Ahhh. Ski and snowboard season is in full effect. To Windham? Possibly (since they like me there anyway)! :)

Here are the first 4 minutes of the upcoming movie, Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. Only 7 more days until it’s released!! :D

Ok, I was gonna make a separate post about some birthday related things, but I figured I’d just stick it at the bottom of this update instead. Read on, friends.

birthday cake
My mom put 20 candles on the cake. I like my cakes on fire!

So I wake up Monday morning to do some errands and I find that on the steps is a box with the most unusual recipient name I’ve ever seen. The package was for me! Thanks Joyce!
my birthday shipping label
Look at that name!

Inside the box were three wonderful items:
All Dogs Go To Heaven DVD
Death Cab For Cutie Directions DVD
Subway Art

I’ve been wanting the All Dogs Go To Heaven DVD and the Death Cab For Cutie Directions DVD for a long time now. The Subway Art book was also a nice little addition. This was visual bliss-in-a-box, basically! :)

Then that night, Simon and Jocelyn took me out to see The Prestige. I thought the movie was really good (maybe I’ll write a full review some day)! Afterwards, we went to eat at Rice. Maybe I should stop bringing people there.

Me, Jocey, and Simon

100 Grand
Jocey’s present to me was the movie ticket and part of dinner. But for kicks, she threw in 100 Grand too! Thanks Simon and Jocey!

And finally, here’s what Yelena put together for my birthday the other day.

I think it’s just a funny video. I hope she doesn’t mind that I uploaded this. And I hope her friends don’t send me angry letters for this. :P I want to go to Boston again!

Looking at my recent past entry timestamps, I can fully conclude that I am a night owl and clearly not a morning bird. I feel so awake when it’s dark. Mmmmmmmm!!

Updating and not doing my work

October 24, 2006 @ 3:19 am

I’m still soaking in the birthday festivities and activities even though my birthday is done and over with. So until I get myself back together, here’s just a small update to curb those readers who would otherwise break out into hives.

Thank you Joyce! And this definition from Urban Dictionary is for you!

Oh my gosh, this is the funniest prank on a telemarketer I’ve ever heard.

It’s only a couple of more weeks until the Nintendo Wii goes on sale in the US (November 19) but already the hype is getting to me! Check out the video below of the system and the gameplay.

Ahh, I am soooo wanting this in the new apartment. These games just look fun! And for those of you who doubt the graphic capabilities of the Wii, check these new Madden screens out. Look pretty good to me!

I talked to Mishy the other day! It was a blast. I’m being sooo serious about this. Thanks Joel for the heads up!

Flickr Blog is telling us all to jump up jump up jump down! Here are me and my friends jumpin’ around.

If you’ve been wondering why you’ve been seeing Mitch Albom’s new book, For One More Day, on sale at your local Starbucks, read up on this New York Times article explaining how Starbucks’ sale of certain entertainment goods is propelling those artists and creative folk way beyond the typical coffee table. Pretty interesting to see that Starbucks is more than just a coffee company–they are sort of a niche entertainment distributor as well these days.

For those who care at all, tees at Threadless are now $10 for a limited time only. Get your Christmas shopping done early!

Does anybody know where I can go buy a jacket? Leave a comment. Goodbye!
