Hours of clean fun

One Tree Hill is getting juicy again! Man! But it’s still a bit ridiculous when you really think about it.

I just watched how a typical snowboard is made. I now understand why some snowboards are so friggin expensive. [via]

Luke 21:5-38 scares the hell out of me. It’s almost a play-by-play on the world in its current state.

Despite Gwen Stefani’s first single, Wind It Up (from her newest album, The Sweet Escape) being really really really really bad, I still am very excited for her album to drop on December 5th. I really liked Love, Angel, Music, Baby and I’m hoping that this new album will at least live up to the same hype. As of right now, early reviewers on Amazon.com forums are giving it mixed reviews. But I’ll decide for myself when I get to hear the whole thing a couple of times through. :)

By the way, did anybody else notice that Amazon.com got some minor facelifts around their site? I like it more now. But I still think some of the pages are as clunky as eBay. Good thing that there’s the Mozilla Amazon Browser [direct link here] for moments when Amazon.com is just unbearable to look at. NOTE: Those links only work in Mozilla compatible browsers, like Firefox, for example.

Bad news for me: Astroland in Coney Island is closing after Summer 2007. The 3.1 acre amusement park was sold for $30 million big ones. Nice! I should probably get on with my photos there then, eh? Yelena, Tiff, Danica…you in?

Rabbi Heschel drives an official-looking Ford Crown Victoria (much like the ones used by NYPD detectives) to and from his work. The vehicle allows him to hurry people and other vehicles along for no reason or emergency whatsoever. What a clever little prick!
By the way, the NYPD really need to update their page of the photos of their police vehicles. Those are photos from the mid 90’s or something. I mean, they do have this other vehicles page, but I really don’t know why they even bother to have two.

On a somewhat related note, I think it’s so sad that the most wanted criminals in NY, according to the NYPD, are all men who appear to be black and Hispanic.

I want a self-stirring mug ($29.95!)!

This entry was meant to be posted yesterday, but I got real lazy and didn’t publish it. I just added stuff to it instead. Yay.

Heh, Mmmh Delicious!

Iraq is in civil war–officially.

For months, the media have been torn over use of the term “civil war” to describe the descent into outright murder and torture in Iraq. Apparently the utter chaos and carnage of the past week has finally convinced some to use “civil war” without apology — with NBC News and MSNBC joining in today in a major way — but many still hold back, an E&P survey today shows.

For months the White House rejected claims that the situation in Iraq has deteriorated into civil war,” he said. “For the most part news organizations like NBC hesitated to characterize it as such. After careful consideration, NBC News has decided the change in terminology is warranted and what is going on in Iraq can now be characterized as civil war.”

On Sunday, The New York Times reported that some scholars are calling the Iraq conflict a “civil war. ” A civil war, it explained, is commonly defined by two criteria: two warring groups fighting for control over political power, and at least 1,000 deaths with at least 100 from each side. Criteria that Iraq meets, easily.

Here’s how Wikipedia defines Civil War.

I honestly find the Rev. Al Sharpton to be quite an odd figure. I tried to look on Wikipedia for an explanation as to why he’s so famous and powerful, but I couldn’t exactly find what I wanted to know. It just baffles me, really. He just seems to pop up all over the place.

A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

HMM! Blue pee sounds like fun!! But I wish it were free.

In the last entry I wrote briefly about how Starbucks’ Peppermint Mocha gives me the perfect feeling of winter and the holidays with friends. It’s an odd feeling to describe, but I just know that Starbucks, with their red festive cups and wonderful cups of joe, really does the trick around this time of year. I forgot to mention however, that another big company gives me a similar feeling about the winter and holidays. This company is Coca-Cola.

cocacola-santa.jpg

Around this time of year, Coca-Cola re-issues their Santa-embezzled Coke cans which, also being red, really make me think of good times with friends in the chilly air. Again, it’s a weird thing to describe, but man, give me a Starbucks or a Santa-rized Coke can and you’ll have me in good spirits for the rest of the day. :)

Need a metronome? How about a metronome online? Good, we’re settled here.

This is pretty amusing. It’s a series of charts and graphs entitled, Why you should continue to date me; a series of charts and graphs. I can’t imagine ever doing this for someone because if I ever did, I would surely never ever date the person I’m trying to impress. Or…maybe not. Who knows.

From The Breakdown of a Breakup (Relevant Magazine):

You blew it. She was perfect. She was the one. You were strong enough to handle her issues. She was gorgeous, smart, fun, passionate, faithful and kind—your first kiss. Now you wrecked everything. The fairytale life is over. You are a failure.

Images of a lifetime flashed before my eyes of what I would miss with her. Images of our shared memories burst in my mind then faded into the pain in my heart. It is over. God is sovereign and in control. He is at work. He knows what you need. He gets all the glory. Smile and move on now. The truth shall set you free.

The fact that it did not work out in the end was indeed a successful end. But this begs the question, “What is a successful dating relationship?” A successful dating relationship is one that recognizes and respects the eternal importance of the other person in purity while discovering and accepting your role in that person’s life. However, this ability to treat her with absolute purity and respect as a sister in Christ before, during and after the relationship can only be achieved through His power. Relying on our own power and wisdom brings the widespread confusion in dating we currently see in the Church today.

I miss being subscribed to Relevant Magazine. This article, although very short and hardly in-depth, reminds me so much of what I went through when I first broke up with Christina. I kept wanted to be friends with her and it was just impossible. What I ended up deciding upon, for myself and for her, was to just be as respectful of her decision as she was to my initial decision. It was the least I could do at the time when I really didn’t know what else to do. To this day, I still keep her close to me, despite the fact that we hardly even talk anymore (I wouldn’t know what to say to her and vice versa). And though things went bitter in the end, I can find rest in the fact that I was at least somewhat sane enough to still realize that she was a woman who deserved more respect from me than probably anyone else ever will for a very long time. The breakup broke me hard but it was definitely a higher power that allowed me to not hate her for her individual decision.

Anyway, it’s a good short read if you’re in the midst of a breakup or if you just need some encouragement in your situation. In fact, IM me or shoot me an email and I can probably talk with you.

I got a parking ticket and this is what I’m reading to get out of it.

Hehe, and these snowman mugs are happy looking.

I am at ease…

My friend Jesse Chun is a wonderful and incredibly talented photographer. She graduated from Parsons School of Design and has recently had her work published in Elle Korea and W Magazine Asia. I really love her fashion photography and would hope to at least some day be even half as good as her. With that said, do check out her website for some of her work. And if you are in need of a photographer, do contact her and see if she’s available. She’s really really good, trust me.

New secrets!

Audrey sent over this distraction game. Just collect the fruits and avoid the bombs. It surely is what it’s called. Beware!

What is up with the internet’s obsession with cats? Here’s another famous internet meme with kittens and domo-kun.

How do the various internet video companies stack up to each other and compare? See for yourself. Damn, how is it that the most popular video sharing site, YouTube, also has the ugliest interface? It should at least be like Metacafe’s.

Banksy, by far my favorite artist to date, has a video up on his website detailing how he managed to put a dummy of a Guantanamo inmate inside a Disneyland park ride. Fantastic video, if you are interested at all. [via]

This is a nice Thanksgiving photo.

Flickr has unveiled camera finder, a section of the site that details the usage statistics of Flickr members and the camera models they may be using. The Canon Rebel XT is clearly ahead of the game. That, or people that are using other SLR cameras are not saving EXIF data correctly when they re-touch, crop, and do post-processing.
The cool thing about this is now you can search photos taken by a specific camera only, and I guess if you wanted to, you could buy it through Yahoo! shopping too.

If there’s one thing that signals the start of the winter holiday season, for me, that thing is the Peppermint Mocha at Starbucks. Something about those attractive red cups coupled with a hot and tasty coffee beverage inside just makes me all warm inside (ha!). Seriously though, when I think of cold winter days, I often find myself thinking about Peppermint Mochas in my hand, shared between myself and a good friend. I don’t really know why that is, but I’m not gonna think too hard about it. I just know it’s a good feeling.
And holy moly, their Christmas Blend 2006 coffee smells delicious! You can buy it in stores or online.

What the hell is Happy Feet about? And why is it getting such rave reviews?! And why does it have such a star-studded cast for voice-overs? I really want to see it.

Is it me, or have the most viewed videos on YouTube been spam videos lately? For the past couple of days, the most viewed videos have featured videos with misleading titles, only to lure people into watching and then wasting their time. This, my friend, I would call spam. I hope it doesn’t continue or get worse.

Haha, how many places can you take a trojan horse? A real trojan horse. Like the one used in the Trojan War.

Connie and Victor’s wedding

November 27, 2006 @ 2:47 am

ALRIGHT! Finally, I get to sit down and re-cap a bit on this incredibly crazy Thanksgiving weekend. I know most of you won’t read too much before jumping straight to the photos, so I’ll keep it short.

I had to read a passage from Song of Songs chapter 2 that really made me laugh. It was unlike any other wedding passage I’ve ever heard (although Norman tells me that the exact same passage was read just a week ago at Dan’s wedding) — I really don’t remember that. Anyway there were funny words in there like gazelle, stag, arise, pruning, quench…basically, words I never say. Ever. I was so scared I’d laugh and totally screw up the wedding ceremony. Thank goodness I was able to think about really sad and depressing things like disease, famine, and wars to curb my laughter. Does that make me a bad person? :O

I can’t stop

November 22, 2006 @ 11:58 am

OMG! It’s Wednesday which means that there’s only a couple of more hours until that glorious day we Americans call Thanksgiving (other Thanksgivings fall on different dates of the year)! With that said, you can bet your blossoming bottoms that I have been thinking about things that I’ve been thankful for lately. I’ve also been thinking about a lot of things that I’ve not been thankful for too. Mostly however, I’m just glad that people I love are back home again. NYC is starting to look beautiful for Winter and the upcoming holiday season. :)

So I hear random reports that the new apartment (yeah, you remember that, right?) is finished already. I have no idea why we haven’t moved in yet. I haven’t gone over to check lately either (at least not since Melanie and I shot up the place with yellow bullets and orange guns). I guess we haven’t done any moving yet because it’s Thanksgiving weekend and none of us really want to do any moving these next few days.

Plus, my cousin Connie’s wedding is on Saturday so none of us really want to move knowing that we should be “getting prepped” for a wedding. Ok, maybe that’s not true, but I tend to think along those lines. Who wants to move when there’s a wedding coming up? NOT ME!

I think a Sub-Zero refrigerator would make our kitchen wonderful. The new PRO 48 wouldn’t be bad. :P

Speaking of weddings, Daniel Park’s wedding last Saturday was SUPER GREAT! For the first time ever, I let the DV cam take the place of my SLR camera and shot the wedding in moving video footage instead of still shots. It was definitely more engaging and fun compared to shooting photos. I’m still editing the footage at the moment, but for those that are curious, the video should be done in the next few days–especially now that I have so much time off from school and class to work on it. :)

I really like doing video.

I drive a Honda Pilot which, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), is rated as one of the top vehicles (in terms of safety) gracing the roads today. This information comes just a day after the IIHS released a report saying that American cars are pretty much retarded on the road (my interpretation) because of a lack of a certain technology called electronic stability control. I’m glad I drive a Honda!…because they make motors for just about everything–airplanes, jets, boats, motorcycles, lawn equipment, vehicles, generators, pumps, robots…I could go on and on…

Look who I saw the other night with Ashley! It’s Cassie! I haven’t seen this girl in like…a bazillion years and you should have seen me ride the bike when Ash told me she was around. I was blazing through the city streets like never before! Oh yeah, I had a mighty fine talk with her dad in the elevator too! Hahaha!!

Thanks Jane for this Superman Theme Song video! Fantastic!

Did you know that Google Calendar has keyboard shortcuts?

Ok, probably no update tomorrow. Enjoy your Thanksgiving!
