Could you brush it off for me?

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you a Flickr photo set of some of the most compelling works of art you’ll ever come across. Yours truly, Herman Yung. :)

Starbucks is getting ready for the holiday season, and to do that they have revamped their website in their classic red and green and launched a small social experiment website, ItsRedAgain.com, to let people share their holiday traditions and stories through the passing of “cheer passes”. It’s a nice website that really gets the season going. Nothing like a cold night, with blinking lights, and a cup of hot coffee in your hands. Ahhh :)

Starting today Starbucks is surprising Manhattan commuters with free subway MetroCards and warming Chicagoans with free movie tickets. The catch is Starbucks wants consumers to pass on their benevolence by performing a good deed for another person, say, to hold open a door or buy someone a cup of coffee. With each deed, the recipient is handed a “cheer pass,” a numbered card that serves as a tracking device for the effort’s viral component.

As much social experiment as buzz campaign, Starbucks is hoping the cheer-pass recipients take the individually numbered cards and log on to the coffee chain’s holiday microsite, www.ItsRedAgain.com, to share how and where they received the pass. The idea is to follow how long people can sustain the “chain of cheer.”

I really really really like Starbucks and their coffee stores/environment. By the way, on the ItsRedAgain website, go play with the “Record By Phone” personalized greeting creator. You’ll be amazed by how cool it is to call in and have your message show up instantly on the card. Give it a go, trust me, it’s cool.

Post Secret: My Secret
There are new secrets this week. But why am I more excited about them this week than any other week? Well, the reason has nothing to do with this week’s particular secrets at all. I’m just excited because Yelena just gave me the latest Post Secret book, My Secret, as a surprise birthday present! I haven’t read it yet, but I can’t wait to pop it open when I get some free time. Whee! :)

In Firefox, CTRL+K will immediately allow you to type in the search bar. This will save only milliseconds each time you need to search, but over a long period of time, this will save you HOURS worth of mouse maneuvering! Trust me, this is a good keyboard shortcut.
If you’re a PC Windows user, another way to save some time is to push F6, which will bring you to the address bar in Firefox, and then type “google [search term]“ and then press enter. This will automatically bring you to Google search results of your query. For example, for a search on “dog”, I would type “google dog” and push enter. That’s all!

For those who are interested, you can pre-order a Zune from Overstock.com for $227.94 + s/h. That’s the cheapest you’ll find it for at the moment, so jump on it if you want to save some money.

UNIQLO (formerly, Unique Clothing Warehouse) just opened their global flagship store in NYC on Broadway between Prince and Spring Streets. It is a ginormous store and it is sure to be packed for the next couple of days to its brim as it handles the mass of consumers entering its doors to get some good quality clothing for a decent price.
Here’s a tip: If you go shopping there, pick up one of their free UNIQLO Paper publications (you can’t miss it, they are all over the store) and on the back are three $15 off coupons that you can use until the first week in December. Make use of it as many times as you’d like.
And yep, UNIQLO took the place of that huge OMG Jeans.

Next Thursday! Jim and Pam together again! For one full hour! Pretty Karen comes too! I CAN’T WAIT!!

Nice! Finally someone gets it right and makes soap that looks like poop! It may look like a pile of dung, but…Nope, it’s soap!

To end this post, let me just say that I think everybody should go watch Borat as soon as possible. It’s so funny, and I’m telling you to see it soon because it’s even more funny in a full theater. You’ll find yourself laughing harder. In any case, this movie is definitely a DVD buy. So good, in fact, that it may warrant me buying 2 copies of the DVD. Ha! :)

i’ve always used CTRL-E for the search box, if you’re also interested, CTRL-[UP] or CTRL-[DOWN] lets you choose different search engines that you have installed.

UNIQLO is a Japanese company that is entering the US market. It sells only its own branded merchandise.
Unique Clothing Warehouse has nothing to do with it. It was a store on Broadway that closed in the early 90’s, and sold mostly clubwear, kind of like a big cut-rate Patricia Field. They may be coming back in the space currently occupied by what’s left of Canal Jeans, see here:

RE: The Shophound
but they write in their own catalog that they were formerly “Unique Clothing Warehouse” and that they consolidated their company name to UNIQLO a few years after.
