Dora [The Explorer] Does a Dance

November 21, 2006 @ 1:57 am

Oh my gosh, Tiffany just sent this to me and it’s the coolest and funniest dance video I’ve seen in a while. This blows away pretty much all the dance videos on YouTube right now.

What can beat Dora The Explorer dancing to a couple of club hits? NOTHING. Don’t save this video for later. WATCH IT NOW. Something about that static smiling giant Dora head makes this video so funny.

HahahAHahahahaahahahaa…!!!

Wish I was going too

November 20, 2006 @ 1:45 am

It’s old, I know, but anybody else like that Jem thing? Ashley got me into it, even though I’ve had a track or two since…forever or something.

This is some sick bass guitar of Amazing Grace. Thanks Jon!

Has anybody seen Piperlime? It’s Gap, Inc.’s latest venture and it involves nothing but selling “more than 100 amazing footwear brands featuring the hottest styles and designers“. A quick look at their selection and I’ll say I’m quite impressed. It’s nothing that you can’t find anywhere else (say, Zappos), but it sure is a welcome addition and option when it comes to buying shoes or sneakers.

The AK 21L Pack [from Burton] is fantastic! And if I had money to spend, I wouldn’t be ashamed of wearing this festive Burton beanie.

Did you catch the new secrets?

The Brilliance echoes my thoughts exactly about the new MTV website. It’s fugly.

So for this first post…what is up with the new MTV site??? I would compare the MTV.com experience to that of walking into a Wal-Mart. You never really know where to start, you can’t believe how much stuff they have and that gives you a headache, and everywhere you look are ads and logos. Let me break this down… Where do you start? On the top left? Maybe on the bottom middleish left? Or maybe you just wait to see if it starts doing things on its own? There are, count them, 11 separate ‘feature’ areas of the site, 2 of them are purely advertising. It’s honestly like a chore trying to figure out where you should start. Maybe if you can’t figure it out just use that gigantic search bar up top. There is so much content on this site, your processor’s speed will drop for sure…maybe if they weren’t trying to house 8,002 trillateragigflops of information it would be a little smoother.

Heh, that’s so true. Anyway, the last few MTV.com re-designs haven’t been all too great at all. This new one just added itself to that list by default. Ack!

Check this out you Times Square joggers: Charmin (yep, the toilet paper company) is installing a 20-stall bathroom unit in Times Square and equipping each stall with Charmin Ultra in order to show people just how soft and lovely their toilet paper really is!

The 20-stall restroom will be at 1540 Broadway, between 45th and 46th Streets, in space formerly occupied by a bar, Bar Code. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. (except for Christmas Day, when it will close at 6 p.m.). Two of the stalls will be accessible to people with disabilities, and baby changing stations will be available. There will also be a seating lounge, with its own photo-op: A six-foot stuffed Charmin bear, just waiting to have its picture taken with a visitor.

Do watch out for Charmin representatives dressed as walking toilets! They will be doing street advertising for the public restrooms. Oh, and yes, they are free to use. These toilet stalls will be available for use starting today, Monday, until December 31st. Sounds like a fun adventure in the heart of the city, no? :)

This is really really dumb, but did you know that the Nintendo Wii has its own Xanga? I don’t understand how this is not going against Xanga’s TOS while Joey’s Xanga was [old URL: http://www.xanga.com/joey_the_dog]. Incredible, Xanga. Just incredible work you’re doing. -_-

I want a Cyberman Helmet!! That looks like it could be a lot of good plain fun! :D

Paper has covered the windows of the 19th street American Apparel for a very long time, and finally on Thursday of last week the store was unwrapped and opened to the public.

Find just about any newspaper you can think of. Quite a useful tool, I’d say. Bookmark it.
And somewhat related to the newspaper, here’s a site that was introduced to me back when I was at Rutgers studying Mass Media Communications: Who Owns What? It basically just gives a pretty comprehensive overview of what media companies own what. It’s nice to know, I guess. Hey, I found it interesting, ok?

This week is gonna be awesome. I don’t even know how to explain it. I’m just already so excited for Thanksgiving and all the various festivities with friends I have planned (and not planned). Wednesday. Thursday. Friday. Saturday. Sunday. Oh my goodness am I going to be exhausted when Thanksgiving weekend is over. You ever get tired yet completely satisfied at the same time? That’s the feeling I anticipate after these next few days are over with. I seriously can’t wait. :)

I call it the “Shoe Spectrum”

November 18, 2006 @ 11:31 am

shoe spectrum

This is hardly as funny as it looks. I have way too many shoes now.

I’ve passed my personal shoe saturation mark a long time ago. Unlike most folks, I actually rotate through wearing each of these shoes regularly. But now…my feet and my mind are just thoroughly exhausted from choosing!

About to go under

If anybody even noticed, I took off the CAPTCHA thing before you submit comments. I found that it wasn’t really doing too great of a job and it was more of a hassle than anything else. I guess spammers are either real people or just really intelligent machines since they seem to get past the CAPTCHA thing just fine. Hmm. Well, Akismet is doing a decent job at least.

David Blaine is an idiot. After his botched attempt to hold his breath for 9 minutes in a spherical aquarium at Lincoln Center this past year, David Blaine wants to, yet again, put his life in danger. Except this time, he wants to escape from shackles while suspended above New York City. Oh yeah, this will take place next week, when everybody will be eating Thanksgiving dinners and not really caring whether or not he successfully completes this stunt. Yay. -_-
Hmm, it’s very odd that Wikipedia has absolutely nothing about David Blaine’s underwater breath-holding stunt

Joyce and Ethan keep telling me to watch Lost, which, I do intend to. However, I can’t help but keep stumbling upon writing from angry viewers of the show who are sick and tired of the plot just going in circles. It seems as if Lost was never meant to be a long-running show, but because of its success and because of greedy network executives (I’m assuming), the show has somehow been prolonged, forcing its writers to come up with retarded plots and countless mini-plots. I can’t wait to watch the show though–the first two seasons at least. :)

This looked too fun not to post, so here’s how you can make an image like the one above using satellite photos of buildings that look like letters. You can then send it out as an e-greeting (or geo-greeting…GAY). Hah, anyway, do what you want with it.

Robots that are “conscious” (so to speak) and aware of themselves are now possible. Asimov’s “future” doesn’t look very far off! :)

Scientists said on Thursday they created a brainy, four-legged robot resembling a starfish that can sense damage to its body and, on its own, think up a way to recover.

Researchers Hod Lipson and Victor Zykov of Cornell University and Josh Bongard of the University of Vermont made a robot that observed its own motion using built-in sensors in its joints and then generated its own concept of itself, or at least its physical structure, in its internal computer.

Lipson said the robot used various movements of its joints, first to generate hypotheses and then to formulate an accurate conception of itself.

The researchers then tested the robot’s ability to adapt to new situations — in this case injury — by shortening one of its legs. “The robot knows something’s wrong,” Lipson said.

Animals can compensate for injury by changing movements, like limping to favor an injured leg. Machines can be programmed to react to a problem in a certain way. But when they are damaged in unexpected ways, they usually are doomed.

This plucky robot responded by generating on its own a new concept of its structure, accurately sensing it had been altered, and then devising a new way to walk using a different gait to compensate for the injury.

The robot’s smarts, awareness of itself and ability to adapt on its own separates it from its mechanical brethren.

This could be really cool and really not cool at the same time. But because it’s robots, I think it’s cool. I love robots. And just in case the robots do eventually get too smart and start a robot uprising, I’ll be glad that there’s already a book out that considers that idea, and with it, we can all be saved from a robot uprising. ;)

AHHHH! Snow Patrol and Ok Go are playing TOGETHER at Madison Square Garden on March 26 (Mon) and 27 (Tues)! Tickets are $40, which is a bit pricey compared to what I usually pay for live concert tickets, but I guess it pays for itself since the venue is Madison Square Garden. I’ve never been there, but I think this would be an awesome concert to go to in order to get myself familiar with it. Anybody up to go with me? Tell me soon! I don’t want these to be sold out!

Not to be skeptical or anything, but I find myself wondering whether or not this is an affective way to evangelize. I often find myself thinking that this is doing more to alienate Christians from the rest of society than it is to actually get them to believe anything a Christian might be saying. I don’t know. Anybody think about that?

And did anybody see this on Yahoo! News as well? A cat gave birth to dogs! Or at least what appear to be just very ugly cats. That mom cat is such a whore! HAR HAR HAR! Mating with a dog! HAHAHAHAHA!

I’ve already tried Google Maps’ click-to-call feature and I can say without a doubt that it works–and works mighty well! This is so awesome that it’s free! This probably means that for those of us who can access the internet on our phones, we no longer have to remember or write down a business phone number. We just let Google do the work for us. Oh, and did I mention that this service is ABSOLUTELY FREE OF CHARGE (not including your usual phone service plan). Neat!

This one’s for Ashley, who needs (or wants, rather) something to cover her walls in her apartment. Enjoy! This sounds like a pretty easy project. I might do this in my new room…whenever I actually move in. [via]

Alright, I’m off to Daniel Park’s wedding! Should be fun. Talk to you all soon!

UCLA student gets tasered multiple times in the library

November 17, 2006 @ 2:32 pm

This all started when the student could not produce proper ID for the library. I’ll write more later. I’m in class. For now, I’ll just say that the video is quite shocking (no pun intended), and that this is quite some extreme force used by the police officers.

Something is very wrong here. And it looks like the MSM is picking up on this story.

Here’s a very short statement from UCLA Chancellor.

I’ll fix and formulate this entry later.

MARIO AND DUCK HUNT WORK!!!!!!!!

November 17, 2006 @ 9:09 am

Check this out! I was at the upstate house the other night and I was just fooling around with the old Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and I just happen to get Super Mario Bros. to work! It was like a dream come true!! I’ve been waiting forever to play this game again! Watch the videos below and then ask me if you can come upstate and play too! :D

Wow, it took some time to get used to the way Mario moves in this game. It was still fun though!

Yep, even Duck Hunt works!

PS: The Nintendo Wii comes out this Sunday. Check yo’self foo!
