The world may be freezing
The Brothers Yung will be performing as special musical guests (more like background music, actually) at OCM for a coffeehouse (I think). I really have no idea what’s going on tomorrow today except that my brothers and I will be playing an acoustic musical set for about 45 minutes (maybe as the people eat and mingle…but again, I really have no idea).
And…the following video for old time’s sake.

Oh my gosh, 40% off any in-store Crumpler bag just for bringing in an “unwanted” gift?! I’m there! There’s no mention of whether or not the “gift” has to be completely new, so there might be some stretching here and there.
The un-gifting event is one day only, Saturday, January 27, 2007 from 11:30AM to 7:30PM. Be there or be square!
I need to find something to give away.
Mmm! A one click butter cutter sounds like the perfect kitchen utility…for butter. That’s pretty smart I think.

Do you know Robert Sabuda? No? Maybe you know his incredible pop-up books, like Encyclopedia Prehistorica Dinosaurs or Encyclopedia Prehistorica Sharks and other Sea Monsters. He’s one of the New York Times’ best-selling book authors, and for very good reason too. His pop-up books, if you’ve ever picked them up at your local bookstore, are extremely engaging. At first, you think, oh pop-up books are for kids, but then you open up one of his books and you’re literally taken into a whole different world (in the pages quite literally). I’ve had a few of his pop-up books on my Amazon.com wishlist for a while now, and I’m hoping to add some of his books to my personal collection when I get a bookshelf set up in my room.
Speaking of books, I exchanged Blink last week with Catch 22, and now I’m having serious thoughts about exchanging Catch 22 with American Born Chinese by Gene Yang. The Amazon.com reviews are super high and so far it’s catching my interest (more so than the other two book attempts at least). We’ll see how this goes.
OMG! I have three versions of the song Dare You To Move by Switchfoot. One is from their Beautiful Letdown CD, the other is from their Learning To Breathe album, and the third was a random version I got from Simon some time ago. Each version of the song is slightly different than the other. For some reason however, I’ve always been kind of obsessive about where the third version came from because I haven’t ever seen it on any compilation or EP or anything like that. It just sort of popped up out of nowhere. Then I just made a random search on YouTube for the song because I wanted to watch the video. It turns out, there were two different music videos made for the song. One is the video that was widely played on VH1 and MTV and the second is a slightly lesser known video with the exact “mystery” version of the song I mentioned. See the video that I’m talking about below.
The better and more rocked-out version of Dare You To Move (and the video) by Switchfoot.
I think this version of the song is so much better.
Ok, sorry for all the music videos, but I’m coming across all this random stuff by accident! One of my favorite ballads (haha, I used the word “ballads”) is Gravity by Coldplay (or rather, Chris Martin). I just found out that Chris Martin gave the song to Embrace for their Out of Nothing album, which featured the track as their lead single. No wonder why when I initially searched for the lyrics for Gravity, I kept coming up with different versions of the song! The lyrics were altered when handed over (and back again).

Travis Ruse has an exhibition at the Redux Picture Gallery that is going on until March 9, 2007. Check it out if you have some time. Hopefully, I’ll be able to stop on by on my way to and/or from school since I’m right there. Thanks G for the heads up. I have no idea how I missed seeing that flyer announcement.
The New York Times takes a look at the frequency of the words used in President Bush’s State of the Union address since 2001. It’s an interactive link, meaning that you can search for just about any word that was in a past State of the Union speech (given by him) and you’ll see how often he says them and how they stack up to other repeated words. Ok, yeah I know it’s late so I’m gonna end this post. I have a lot to say about a lot of things, but I never find myself writing about them. Not here on Doobybrain at least. Yikes. Anyway, bundle up if you’re in the northeast today. It’s gonna be BBBBBRRRRIIIICCCKKKK out.
