Bump bump bump

I don’t know what I’ve been doing lately. But dang am I tired from doing it!

Feeder’s music video for Feeling A Moment. Definitely one of my favorite songs ever. :)

Man, I’m so sad! The Supercard DS One is sold out. Of course, this would happen on the day that I go to the website to actually buy it. Phooey. Oh well, I shall wait I suppose.

Nothing like a batch of secrets for this new week.

I would defintiely use Myspace a bit more if it looked half this good. But because it doesn’t even look half that good, I hardly ever want to log in and poke around. Anyway, here’s a link I’ve never posted here on Doobybrain.com: Doobybrain’s Myspace! Friend me if you’ve got an account.

Dang, going to that Myspace redesign page made me realize that I haven’t visited DeviantART in…a very long time. :O

Don Bluth has directed many movies/cartoons. He directed All Dogs Go To Heaven (from which I posted a post for previously). He also directed such great movies as The Land Before Time and An American Tail and Anastasia. Watching All Dogs Go To Heaven made me really want to watch some old cartoons I had watched when I was a kid, films like Oliver & Co., The Rescuers Down Under, and The Great Mouse Detective.
Oh, why am I writing this? Because I think it’s so funny that Don Bluth is somewhat tainted by the fact that all of his fantastic and brilliant cartoon movies fall into the “excessive sequel syndrom”, which by the name itself, you can probably guess what that means. The Land Before Time certainly fell into it — 12 different times might I add. Yikes. And the funny thing is that Don Bluth never has anything to do with the sequels. Who OK’s this stuff anyway?!

I find this article about how Levi’s is suing competitors for trademark infringement incredibly interesting. Here’s an excerpt:

Levi Strauss claims that legions of competitors have stolen its signature denim stitches — two intersecting arcs and a cloth label — for their own pockets, slapping them on the seats of high-priced, hip-hugging jeans that have soared in popularity.

In the majority of cases, Levi’s accuses competitors of copying its design of two arcs that meet in the center of the pocket or its famous Levi’s tab, a folded piece of cloth sewn into the vertical seam of the garment.

Robert Hanson, Levi’s president for North America, said the company manufactured “a product that a lot of people are copying and copying with a lot of success.”

But the privately held Levi’s, whose founder sewed together the first pair of jeans in 1873, has been unable to exploit the latest $200-a-pair denim craze — and now claims scores of smaller competitors are riding high because of what it created. When consumers’ tastes shifted toward designer jeans that were bejeweled, torn and frayed, Levi’s was still selling basic $30 pairs at K-Mart.

The clothing company faced two major problems over the last decade. Its image and brand — button fly, rugged, and all-around bad-boy cool — was largely built for men, its jeans cut boxy and loose- fitting. At the same time, the company, which once distributed its jeans largely through department stores catering to the rich, had shifted into lower-priced retailers like J.C. Penney, Sears and Wal-Mart.

I always wondered why stores here in NYC like OMG JEANS (by the way, this company is such a mystery to me) always sell Levi’s jeans for $6. Now I sorta know why. But really. C’mon. Really. Ok, whatever. You can read it for yourself. I’m just make a note for myself.

The greatest Wikipedia find I’ve come across yet: 2000′s fads and trends in North America. More fads and trends here.

Yay! It’s a dream come true! Now I can know what color the Empire State Building is without looking outside! You can catch a close-up view of the building every first 5 minutes of every hour. Neat. :)

Family Guy characters in their “real” skin. This will mess with ya for a bit.

What a great photo project from Bill Sullivan. He stands in front of NYC subway turnstiles and waits to photograph people as they cross onto the platform side. [via]

I really love the packaging for Fred water. At the moment, if you don’t live or go to NYC, you might not know what Fred water is. Well, I mean, you’ll know that it’s water, but you probably wouldn’t have seen it before this very moment. Anyway, I think Fred water is interesting because the creator seems to be putting a personality behind the bottle of water itself. For example, Fred has his own Myspace as well as his own online website.

Here’s one photographer’s life in photos for one entire year — every single photo the photographer took that year in one video.
While this video isn’t particularly fascinating, I love the idea behind it. I love the idea so much that I’m tempted to gather all of the photos taken from January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2006 and make a version of my own.
On a related note: Since I got my Canon SD450 in November of 2005 (a little over a year ago), I have taken over 7000 photos with it. Wheee! Snap snap snap!

This may not look like it but here is my first successful HDR photo composite. Normally in this photo you’d never be able to see the shadows in the stack of clothes. Yeah, I know, boring photo talk…

Here are some fun fake tilt-shift photos I re-uploaded.

This past Saturday, I went to that Crumpler re-gifting event that I wrote about. I brought in this old sweater that still had tags on it and they accepted it with no questions asked and gave me a whopping 40% off of any purchase in the store. That’s crazy! So I bought a bag for no reason whatsoever.

I came out carrying this — the complete seed in a royal blue and yellow. It looks nice and it’s big. I can now deliver two 6-packs with ease (plus some more!)!

Microsoft Vista operating system went on sale today. It’s website is very pretty. And that start-up sound is great!

“I need a song about saying goodbye, about never seeing someone again. Preferrably something rockin’. For the love of god, nothing emo.” Haha, that’s too good of a request! :P But hey, at least someone suggested Wave Goodbye by The Crash Poets — an awesome song for goodbye times! :)

Alrighty, I hope you’ve all been enjoying those old music videos I spent two entire posts on. I sure had a lot of fun watching them again and thinking back on old times. Let me know if you want more (although I’m not sure how many more I can find that will give the same sense of mood and/or emotion). Otherwise, keep visiting and spreading good cheer! :)

Regarding the Levis article, according to fellow hipsters, Levis WILL win that lawsuit. They’re apparantly targetting Japanese denim companies such as Samurai. Levis went into the premium market for denim about 1-2 years ago and are doing quite well. Their Levi’s Vintage Collection (LVC) is limited to Japan, but they are extremely durable and great looking jeans modeled after Levi denim from the past. But yea, apparantly Levis will win this lawsuit and some of the Japanese companies have already been ordered to pull the jeans with the red tabs off the shelves. Twisted!
