Slow/Snow day at work
I’m not a lazy worker or anything, but for some reason when there’s little going on around me, I tend to do little in return. I think the fact that it snowed quite a bit in the city had a lot to do with it. I kept looking out the window wishing I wasn’t at work behind a desk. It also doesn’t help that I have a fantastic view of Central Park blanketed in snow (it made me want to bolt right out of there). Oh yeah, and the co-workers around me were totally distracted from their work as well. Their conversations are so funny I can’t help but listen in sometimes (ie: ex-cons as Fresh Direct delivery personnel, etc.)
Anyway, to kill the time between photo research (pages take a while to load because I search multiple pages at once) I decided to test the limits of my computer at work. I opened lots of individual Firefox windows and then Exposé’d it until I saw that Exposé was having a bit of trouble rendering the animation from single window to “all windows” view. It was pointless, no duh, but it really passed the time quickly. Before I knew it, I was doing the following…

Not bad, I thought. But the computer wasn’t slowing down yet.

Better. The computer was starting to lag, but only slightly. Not enough for me to say “enough of this”.

I’m getting there. This slowed down the animation process quite a bit. Plus, I was pretty satisfied knowing that nobody in their right mind would ever open 75 windows — all with the same page (Google’s Valentine’s Day graphic).
By the time I got around to counting all 75 windows, it was time to get out of there. I was off to celebrate Valentine’s Day!
I said “peace!” to my computer and got the steppin’!
