FANTASTIC TIME
Most of you have probably already heard about this already, but to those of you who haven’t, just know that Google Maps now includes live traffic information in major US cities [since this is a NY-centric blog, I can say that NYC is covered].

Oh wow, I just installed Adium on my computer here at work and I noticed that Adium’s launch window is so good looking. Why aren’t more applications doing something like this?

I’m all ready for Summer. My mom gave me this Summer Fresh Yankee Candle today and man it smells like a fresh field of absolutely nothing (that might explain the incredibly mundane field of flowers on the label)! It’s great though because it smells good. My Christmas Cookie candle is all but used up and this Summer Fresh one came just in time to brighten my day (and my room! HAR HAR HAR!).
If you need a new desktop background, you can probably find one here. But there’s a lot there, so you’ll have to do some searching. I’m currently using a version of this (there’s this one too).
Yesterday’s accidental finding of Headlights got me quite interested again in finding new music. I browsed around for similar artists and came across Teddybears. Their hit single is Punkrocker and it immediately got me hooked. But something about it was so familiar to me. And so, like I do with everything else I come across online, I did some research, and wouldn’t you know!…I knew the song because it was used in a Cadillac commercial a while back. Anyway, the music reminds me of what I would hear over the PA system in a clothing boutique — pumped up just loud enough so you can’t hear the person next to you who’s shopping with you.
MUST PLAY MUST PLAY!!! The line game is crazy addicting. You basically control a small line with either your mouse or keyboard and try your best to keep the line inside the black area. You have to reach the end where the green circle is. I find it easier to play with the mouse controls, but if you fancy the keyboard, then go ahead and try that. But dude, this game wasted so much time in my morning. Whew! :)

OMG, finally! It’s been a long time coming, but Parsons finally got around to getting another Epson Stylus Pro 4000 in our print labs. We previously had only 2 for the entire department and now we have 3 (well, 4 if you count the 4800 too). I’m gonna go print something.
Oh my goodness I swear this is Flava Flav in disguise (meaning he looks somewhat normal).
ColorJack: Sphere is a great way to choose a color scheme for any project you may be working on. Don’t be fooled though, it’s not simply an online color picker. It allows you to choose how you want your colors picked based upon a few set criteria (five-tone, six-tone, complementary, analogous, etc. etc.). Because of that, I find it quite useful.
If you want to try something else, Color Blender is another good alternative.
The Bethesda Terrace Arcade, the richly decorated underground component of Central Park’s Bethesda Terrace, will reopen to the public after a $7 million restoration by the Central Park Conservancy. Experts who worked on the project will hold guided tours and demonstrate the process used to clean and restore each tile by hand.
The main focus of the restoration was the preservation and reinstallation of the Arcade’s treasured Minton tile ceiling, the only known example of Minton encaustic ceramic tiles used in a suspended ceiling. The majority of the 15,876 tiles were removed and put into storage in the early 1980s because their backing plates were severely corroded due to water infiltration. Additional restoration efforts reinforced and waterproofed the infrastructure to prevent any future water damage.
Gothamist has some photos of the newly renovated arcade space (as well as this handy Bethesda Terrace restoration illustration from the NYT). Very nice indeed. It’s so odd to think that about 3 years ago I stood there and took my senior class photo. It looked nice then, so I imagine that it’ll look even better now that it’s all complete.
Ok, I have to post this because there’s time sensitive information in this post. I’m antsy! Ask me why and I might tell you! :D
