The Greenwich Village cop shootout that left 4 people dead is being covered by the New York Times in detail. I was there later on that night (very early Thursday morning) and I couldn’t figure out at first why there were so many cops there. Then when I got home later I realized that I had basically just gone through an urban war zone. Kinda scary. But yeah, I’ve never seen so many cops in my life. They were literally storming and infesting the area. It makes sense that they would, but still, there were SOOO many cops and special investigation vehicles, not to mention several NYPD mobile command posts set up. If I hadn’t known any better, I would have assumed that terrorists were taking over the town.
