Coffee flowing through my veins

April 30, 2007 @ 10:14 pm

Man, something I ate in Florida is making me fart like crazy!! Ever since coming back home from Florida, I’ve been farting a lot. And I’m not talking about the little tiny peep-squeak farts either. I’m talking about BBBAAARRRAAAAPPPP kind of farts. The ones that rattle your chair and make you have to sit up straight so that you don’t get “hot cheeks”. Haha, don’t lie. I know you know what I’m talking about.

Anyway, yeah, I can’t recall what I might have eaten to give me such horrible gas. Maybe it was the hot and humid weather that made my body go through some sort of change. I should get a scientist to look into that phenomenon. Oops, just farted again as I typed this sentence! :)

Why are some Americans so stupid? :(

Mmm…nothing like a Smart car getting crashed into 20 tons at 70MPH. Mmmm. Don’t ever want to be in that thing. Ever.

This is a nice photo.

sanitation-hat.jpg
If this Department of Sanitation (NYC) hat really looks like this, then I want one. I wish the Official NYC store had an actual store to walk into. This would make online shopping a lot less aggravating. [DO NOT WANT]

Since Scott Tang isn’t man enough to let people comment on or rate his video on YouTube anymore (there were too many comments about how much this song sucked), I’ll take some time out now to personally say on Doobybrain.com that this Freeway song sucks. And it sucks a lot.

Cool: A semi-submersible ship in NY harbor.

My cubicle at work is no match for Will’s room. But hey, it’s getting close. [via]

Thursdays would be so much more awesome if The Office was stretched to an hour. I hope they do it. I really hope they do it.

Shoot, I wonder if it’s true that the NYPD is having a hard time recruiting new officers. I want to be an NYPD officer — but not for that amount of pay. Seriously, WTF is up with that salary? It’s probably one of the most dangerous jobs anybody can have in NYC and they’re paying them that low amount? No wonder NYPD officers have no tolerance for anything.

But for real, I think about joining the NYPD sometimes. I’m totally serious about it, too. I think it’d be exciting (and dangerous, of course), but I think I’d like it. I guess I won’t ever really know unless I do it. Who knows, maybe in 10 years I’ll be a high-ranking NYPD officer, fighting crime and kicking criminal butt. That’d be awesome!

I really don’t know where the heck This Is Wanted is coming from or what it is advertising (if it’s even advertising/promoting anything at all). In any case, I love this kind of motion graphic type stuff that people are making. This Is Wanted reminds me of the Say What Again video I posted previously.

I can’t believe school is ending so soon! Tonight, I am staying up to write a paper, complete two photo/video projects, and construct a visual outline of a city block. It’s gonna be a crazy night for sure, but it’s satisfying to know that after tonight, I am basically going to be done with my Juniormore year (that’s the word I just made up to describe how I am both a sophomore and a junior all at the same time — clever, yes I know). It’s been such a sweet, sweet year. Next year is going to rock!

And I don’t mean this kind of rock.

I just farted. Again.

Umm…thanks?

Insane bike messengers in NYC

April 29, 2007 @ 11:28 pm

I try not to ride like this because I don’t want to die and I don’t want somebody else to die.

The things the bike messengers do in this video are impressive I guess, but it can seriously go wrong at any given moment in so many different ways.

I’m back and I’m not tanned

April 29, 2007 @ 11:20 pm

I’m back from my short visit to Florida for the weekend! I’ll update more on that later.

There are some people who want to save the Moondance Diner from extinction by moving the entire place to a new location and continuing the business there. The place where the Moondance Diner currently resides is going to be turned into condominiums soon.

Yes, this still got updated even though I wasn’t here this past weekend. See!

Man, if you think California’s traffic problems are big, you ain’t seen nothing yet!
More photos from the SF Gate.

I forgot where this came from, but this is a funny little take on Wikipedia.

Forget Glysomed hand lotion. Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream is what’s up. Doobybrain.com fully endorses this product and it’s uses.

The Real Hustle – Pick Pocket (aka “The Phantom Wallet”)

I’ve been watching segments of The Real Hustle, a BBC Three program, on YouTube lately. The entire show centers around how the hosts can manipulate the public and trick them into huge scams often without the persons knowing what they have done or what they have gotten themselves into. It’s an interesting look at how what a lot of what we may think is “normal” procedure might not be. In fact, it might all be a scam meant to rob us of our trust entirely. It’s a great show though and it does teach you to be a bit more aware of your surroundings. :)

This is awesome. Best lip-syncing video ever.

New secrets, suckas.

A few weeks ago I submitted and applied for my new passport (so I can go to far-away places). Somehow along the way, I failed to realize that I might be getting one of those new RFID-enabled biometric passports. Unlike most people who are deathly afraid of these new biometric passports, I for one am kinda excited about receiving one. I already love the idea walking into my work [at Hearst] without having to flash or show ID–I just walk through this detector and it receives a signal from my ID badge and I’m through! I’m hoping that, in some way, the new passport will work like that. I think that’ll be so cool (I think of it as an EZ-Pass for personal travel).
Anyway, the new and very patriotic-looking passports have some people on the edge about it.

Professional designers shown the passport to critique mentioned art as well.

“It is like being given a coloring book that your brother already colored in,” said Michael Bierut, of the design firm Pentagram in New York City. A passport, not unlike a scrapbook, gets its allure from gradually accruing exotic stamps, with the blank pages holding the promise of future adventure, he and other designers said. But they find that the new jumble of pictures detracts from that.

“There is also something a little coercive about a functional object serving as a civics lesson, even a fairly low-grade civics lesson,” Mr. Bierut said.

“It seems to represent an idealized version of a country that is far from ideal right now,” she said, adding that the most positive thing was that at least the images embedded over her photograph hid some wrinkles.

I WANT TO GO HERE AND SEE DINNY THE DINOSAUR. I’ve wanted to go here ever since watching The Wizard.

The end.

We’re here in South Florida

My brothers and I arrived safely last night at Ft. Lauderdale airport in Florida. Judy picked us up along with Joyce and Richard and we all went to Hard Rock hotel and casino to play slots, gamble, and eat.

I haven’t been in Florida for more than 12 hours yet and already I’ve done something illegal. Hahaha. Nobody asked for my ID.

Sue’s wedding is at 3PM! Gotta go get ready! I’ll update later! It’s humid and hot here!

The teeny tiny post

April 27, 2007 @ 2:34 pm

Ok, this is the last update before I actually leave on a jet plane to Florida! I’ll be down there until Sunday, so no posts this weekend. I’ll be reachable through email though, so feel free to email me as much as you’d like.

Hmm, this is interesting. I didn’t know Flickr showed my archives by date like this. My tags look cool.

Man, Google Talk users have bad taste in music. Yuck. I mean, c’mon…Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne?!??!?!

dumbo-then-and-now.jpg
Sometimes I wish the world actually looked like this. It looks so friendly and comfortable and colorful! Not to mention that it looks pretty too! Anyway, here’s a map from Two Tree Management, the top from 2002 and the bottom from 2007, detailing the drastic changes happening to the DUMBO section of Brooklyn. I love these types of illustrations because they instantly show you how an area has changed in a matter of 5 short years. DUMBO is one of my favorite neighborhoods in NYC and to see that it’s getting so big so quickly is both exciting and alarming. Seeing the entire neighborhood in this way is cool too because I have memories on just about every street in this area. It’s as if I was doing a virtual walking tour in my own head of my own experiences.

real-mouse-mouse.jpg
The real mouse mouse (not a typo there) is crazy. It’s a real mouse converted (is that even the right word to use) into a computer mouse. Kinda nasty, I guess. [via]

Enjoy the weekend! Florida, here we come!
