Blocky

I already know that you’re gonna end up playing Blocky instead of doing work. So good luck. Don’t get caught not doing work!

This game is crazy addicting. Instructions are simple: Try to get all the smiley blocks to go away by selecting rectangular/square sections having 4 corners of the same color. The bigger the selection, the more points you’ll receive.

Have fun! Play here!

BACK BACK BACK TO WHERE WE STARTED

May 29, 2007 @ 10:46 am

Man, so this past week has been soooo insane. I came back from Oregon last week and immediately became a busy city bee! I juggled playtime with worktime and that made me feel like such an adult. I went to West Point graduation with Flo to congratulate Melanie. I managed 3 blogs this weekend (hermanyung.com, JJ, and doobybrain.com). Not much of a feat I guess, but I’ve never had to do that before so it was something I wrote about in my daily diary (totally kidding about the diary).

But yeah, things are finally winding down a bit. I’ve had the weirdest (but oddly most satisfying) sleeping schedule in my entire life thus far — 2 hours here, and then one ginormous nap, and then maybe 4 hours here…all while being awake for WAY too long in between. Oh yeah, I did mention that the heat has been slowing me down.

My Gmail spam knows too much. It’s trying to tell me something. It’s leet (or 1337).

If anybody is interested, Threadless is having a $10 tee sale until June 3rd.

Flags By Colors is a very interesting look at the the proportional areas of color of different nation’s flags — in a pie chart. Overall, you’ll notice that a lot of countries use red and white in their flag color schemes.

Fortune has a great article on why Facebook’s new direction and open API is immensely beneficial to the company and to its users. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, Facebook is going places and it’s fantastic. Everyone who’s not using Facebook already, should, and if you’re using it and complaining that it’s a big invasion of privacy, then you’re a complete idiot and don’t really know how to use and configure your Facebook account.

Coney Island, the land of cheap thrills for all New Yorkers, might or might not be in its last season (it could go either way). And because the possibility of it closing in September is still very real, many people are flocking to the area near Astroland to reminisce and ride the infamous Cyclone rollercoaster just once more. I should be going there sometime this week. I’ll see.

Do some great sound mixing with this Homestarrunner cast soundboard. It’s Stomp-like.

What happened on the day you were born?

GOOD NEWS FOLKS! Spring is about 97% complete! Summer is almost officially here!!!

If there’s only one movie I get to see this summer, I hope that it’s Transformers. I really can’t wait until it comes out. Here are links to Transformers media.

Justin almost busted his butt climbing this water tower because a pigeon decided to FLY RIGHT AT HIS FACE as he was climbing. I was so scared he was gonna freak out and accidentally let go (he was about…2-3 stories up I think).
Note to self: CHECK WATER TOWER FOR BIRDS NEXT TIME BEFORE CLIMBING IT!

Ok, enjoy the heat and Sun! Have fun!

Google Maps Street View

If you go over to Google Maps today, you’ll notice that there’s a new button that you can click on labeled “Street View”.

The street view is a new and in-depth way to look at major city roads and streets. It is currently available in the 5 select US cities below:

  • San Francisco, CA
  • Las Vegas, NV
  • Denver, CO
  • Miami, FL
  • New York, NY

Street View is pretty simple to use. You just click the “street view” button to turn the feature on, and then once you’ve done that, you click anywhere on the map that has a blue outline on it and a little man appears and faces the direction that you are looking in. The image is 360-degree viewable, so you just click and drag inside the photo that pops up and play around.

I’m guessing that since Yung Kee is closed in the Google Maps street view, that the photos in this midtown area were either taken on a Sunday or taken after business hours in the summer. Just my guess though.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Pirates Dice = BEST TIME KILLER EVER!!

May 29, 2007 @ 4:51 am

pirates-of-the-caribbean-dice.jpg

I played this really fun and simple game called Pirates Dice with my sister and cousins yesterday. The game is based on a similar dice game called “Liar’s Dice” (but there are other alternative names as well). Anyway, my cousin explained it to me like this: “It’s BS, but with dice”. The goal of Pirates Dice is to trick and deceive your opponents into thinking that you are lying.

I’ll admit, the game sounded really stupid at first, but after playing it, I really wanted to go and buy my own set. Granted, I could just buy individual sets of dice which would be cheaper, but the whole sense of “cool” with playing with Pirates cups and Pirates die is just too much to give up.

You can play a cheap online version here, or you can just purchase your own set to play with 3 other friends! Make it real interesting by buying more than one set and combining them together!

If you’re interested in other dice games, Wikipedia’s got a pretty good compiled list.

OMG SO HOT IT’S LIKE I LIVE IN AN OVEN OMG SO HOT

May 29, 2007 @ 3:21 am

For those of you who have had the horrible privilege of coming over and experiencing the real-life oven that is my apartment, this entry is for you.

It has gotten SOOOO hot in my apartment in the past few days that Joey has resorted to sleeping directly in front of the multiple fans that are on in my house.

Not to mention also that just about every window that can open is already open. There’s something seriously wrong with the circulation in our apartment when the heat just won’t escape. Yep, I even opened enough windows to attempt to create airflow…but that hasn’t helped much.

And now that the heat is giving my friends HEAT RASHES…I really don’t want people to come over until a solution is found.

The heat in the apartment is slowing me down physically and making me real tired.

Four years and counting…!

Congratulations to Melanie for graduating from West Point Military Academy!!!

It’s been a long 4 years since you were just a freshman, but you’ve made it and now you’re a 2nd Lieutenant in command! How cool! :)
