Goodbye Surprise! (*UPDATED!!!!*)

This summer has so far been very sweet. It feels as if I’ve been on some kind of natural high ever since finishing my last final of the Spring 2007 school year at Parsons sometime in mid-May. Since then, I’ve just been enjoying myself in the company of friends, hanging out, playing Wii, eating a lot, and playing competitive games of Tetris DS. That’s not all I’ve been doing of course. I’ve also been sticking in some last-minute Australia errands and finalizing the details of my upcoming year abroad in the land down under.

Like I said, this summer has been so sweet. I’d describe it like Magnolia-cupcake-sweet if only Magnolia cupcakes were even half as good as they looked (which they aren’t). So I guess I could describe this summer thus far as sweet-like-syrup-over-buttered-French-toast. Yeah, I think that describes it well both in texture and personal enjoyment. :)

Anyway, back to the topic that is the title of this entry…the GOODBYE SURPRISE!

On Sunday, June 24, 2007, some of my closest friends threw me an early send-off party complete with whipped cream, icing, cake, pizza, and video games!!

After church, I got a call from Josh asking me if I was around. I told him I was and that he should come over to chill since he’s only in the city on weekends. I had no idea he was in on the whole surprise. Around the same time, Yelena calls me and asks me if she can stop by, and of course, I tell her she can. I also have no idea she is in on the same surprise.

So Yelena, Josh, Yangie, and I are chilling in my room and just catching up and the next thing I know, Yelena goes out of my room to answer a phone call. On the phone were Joyce, Melanie, Flo, Corey, and Justin who were telling Yelena to prep and get ready for the big surprise.

Yelena goes out of my room and buzzes the rest of them into my apartment. Unfortunately for them, I hear the elevator door (I have special ears for hearing the elevator door close) and I walk out to see who came in, thinking that it might be one of my brothers. I then see Joyce and Corey trying to desperately find a place to hide but it was too late–I had already seen them. At this point I think, Hmm…cool! More people are here, but that’s not all. I hear lots of shuffling noises from behind the kitchen counter and I look over and I am greeted by a loud and rambunctious “SURPRISE!”

This whipped-cream cake goes straight into my face…

IMG_4732
YUM! I wasn’t cooperating (or hearing Joyce telling me to sniff the cake) so they just went ahead and smashed it into my face.

There was a real cake too.

Here’s the delicious Funfetti cake with Tetris blocks adorning the outer edge.

They even drew an LOLCat and a kangaroo for my Australian trip!

Ahh, I love my friends and the silly things they do (ie: Watching American History X at a party). But still, that’s why I love them, because they’re always up for video games, food, and hanging out.

Thanks to Joyce for the photos!

If you’ve always wanted to view photos online in full-screen, then PicLens is the Firefox extension/add-on you want to use.

After installing the PicLens extension, photos will display a faint grey-ish arrow at the bottom left corner. When you push that arrow, your desktop fades out and PicLens takes over showing your photos in awesome full-screen wonder. The interface is clean and nice and there’s virtually no learning curve to start using this extension. Plus, it’s entirely unobtrusive to your regular browsing habits so you won’t have to worry about it “being in the way”.

Creation Festival East 2007

June 26, 2007 @ 5:10 pm

There won’t be any updates from me for the rest of this week as I am taking a short trip to the wild fields of Pennsylvania to attend Creation Festival East!

Creation Festival is an annual outdoor concert featuring some of today’s greatest Christian musical acts, playing to an audience of over 100,000 for 4 straight days.

Creation Fest ‘07 Promo Video

I went to Creation East in the summer of 2005 and totally loved it. In the eyes of a city boy like me, Creation Festival East was straight up wilderness in the middle of summer vacation. We camped, showered, crapped, and fought off bugs for 4 days and survived. Coupled with the music, the experience itself was quite satisfying to say the least. So when Creation Festival East got rained out last year (2006), I was totally bummed that we couldn’t go (especially since that was one of Audio Adrenaline’s last concerts ever).

Here’s to this summer being as hot, sticky, and musically wonderful as 2005. :)

Below is the tentative lineup schedule for Creation East 2007:

Whack a dilly-oso, whack whack whack

I needed this long list of online photo apps. Especially the part with the online photo editors — good for when somebody doesn’t have Photoshop installed.

OK JUST KIDDING: Astroland isn’t saved just yet. By the way, the Cyclone turned 80.

Haha! Two things: First, the guy can’t say “loo-mines”; second, the PSP firmware has been hacked for ALL versions up until 3.50.

ANOTHER ONE! O RLY? YA RLY!

I also thought this Manhattan Mini Storage ad along the West Side Highway was a bit too much. I saw it the other day and I was like “Wow, I can’t believe they actually put that up.” Stupid agency.

How far can you go in your car once the gas light has turned on? Drivers of the Honda Pilot are reporting that you can go an average of 50 miles more before your gas tank goes completely empty and you’re left stranded trying to figure out why you kept driving in the first place… :)

WTF! Where are the Terminators?! This video of dancing Sony robots is old, but it’s the first time I’m seeing it.

Here are Sunday’s secrets. Frank Warren’s next Post Secret book, A Lifetime of Secrets, is now available for pre-order. Yay!

OMG! The PATH train transit hub structure that had such a large presence at the foot of the former WTC towers is completely gone! Here is a photo of the PATH entrance at night from Wikipedia and here is the render of the proposed Santiago Calatrava building that is to replace it. I shouldn’t be all that susprised since I knew that PATH train station entrance was only temporary, but still, it’s weird to know that it’s completely gone now after being such a large part of lower Manhattan since 9/11.

The Brooklyn Waterfront is on the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s list of the 11 most endangered places 2007.

Like, half the movie is, like, online already! ROFL!

So after yesterday’s quick post of the clip from the upcoming Transformers movie, I saw that there were quite a number of other good quality snippets from the film on YouTube.

Here are some of them:
