I thought today was going to suck
Like the title says, I thought today was going to suck. I woke up and it was raining out. I don’t mind the rain much I guess, but it’s been sorta drizzling for the past few days. I want it to either RAIN RAIN RAIN or just be dry. The drizzle feels cheap. Anyway, so I go to this “Extreme Adventures” talk about traveling around Australia during my vacations. It was insightful and helpful, but I was the only person there who knew me. I didn’t know anybody else and halfway through the thing, I was getting that feeling of loneliness and desperation — the feeling you get when you really don’t want to look like you’re in some place by yourself. So I started fiddling with my cell phone, looking like I was responding to text messages (of course, I wasn’t).
Anyway, so after the “Extreme Adventures” talk, I left and just decided to kill some time walking around. It turns out, this was the best decision I made all day. I walked into Mooks (no relation to the slang term ‘mook’ which basically means that somebody is stupid). The store is very attractive, fitted with the type of fashion/clothing I’d totally go for if I were to spend a lot of money in one store. So yeah, I walk into Mooks, just browsing, and I strike up a conversation with one of the employees and we end up just chatting for a while. It was fun, and it kinda made me feel a bit less like a tourist and more like a common shopper and inhabitant in the town.
Note to self: I can’t do simple currency conversions for the life of me.
omg! (beta) is such a funny and obnoxious gossip site from Yahoo! But I totally love how it looks. It fits the whole celebrity gossip thing quite well. I can’t believe I just came across this now.
After missing a week of secrets, here are this past week’s secrets. Better late than never, eh?
Uncluttr: the best Amazon.com shopping experience ever.
If you’re using Firefox, I guess you can use the Amazon XUL thingie too.
Ahh, tickets at Coney Island. Coney Island, I miss thee. Summer 2008: Cyclone part 2! :D
Super Mario Galaxy sure looks fun. Here are some screenshots too.

So I’m surfing the net from RMIT wireless here in the heart of Melbourne. The download and upload speeds are incredibly fast (or at least they feel fast compared to my apartment’s connection). Still, I wish RMIT wouldn’t hassle us about logging into personal emails like Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, etc., since they already disable most commonly used sites to be rendered retarded by stripping them down and making them look like they came from Internet 1994.
Basically, I’m saying that even though RMIT internet is fast, there’s no point in actually using and/or abusing it because I can’t even access anything I would want to here. Tunnelling doesn’t even work either.
I just got an invite into Pownce.com, the website that is trying to make sending files to and from friends a new and unique online experience. Pownce is co-founded by Kevin Rose, the brainiac behind the social tech news site Digg.com.

My invite came from the fantastic invite sharing site, Invite Share! Sign up and put your name on the waitlist toward any site that may be invite-only at the moment.

One of my photos for Fire & Ice from my trips to Boston has been included in the third edition of the Schmap Boston Guide.
Melbourne has a Schmap too, but it sorta sucks and is lacking major content.

OMG. It sounds like Melbourne has its very own “Cyclone” rollercoaster at Luna Park. The ride is called the Scenic Railway and it is the world’s oldest operating rollercoaster!!! Maybe it’s not as intense as the Cyclone back in NY, but the Scenic Railway is wooden and looks old — just as good to me!
