Take me all the way

The internet is full of lies and deceit. See if you can tell which sites are true and which sites are fake with McAfee’s phishing quiz. I scored an impressive 9 out of 10 correct. [via]

I wish I was in the US right now so I could buy this Harper’s Bazaar which shows the Simpsons family in elegance. Cool, eh?

Finally, Facebook puts the annoying “How do you know ___________” questionnaire in an AJAX popup so that you don’t have to navigate from a separate page just to answer or skip that question. I’ve always hated that question.

Well well well! It looks like NYC is beginning to get the memo on how bad plastic bags are for the environment. Whole Foods is offering an environment-friendly alternative to plastic bags in the form of a reusable durable tote. Good luck trying to snag one though. It’s sort of become a fashion statement (probably among hipsters looking to look environmentally aware) and they are currently sold out!

Timbuk2 now offers blank canvas bags so that you can create your own design on it using paint, markers, or any other colorful substance/tool. I think it’s a great idea! Timbuk2′s Artist Originals promotion is great too if you want to look at some artwork from artists around the world for inspiration. Artists have been creating personalized bags since 2005, so there is plenty of inspiration to look at if that’s what you’re looking for. I already draw quite heavily on my current Timbuk2 and I would love to purchase a new white blank canvas bag so I could start decorating the outside on my own. Maybe it’ll be like the walls in my old room, where people just get to write whatever they want, whenever they want. That’d be fantastic!

If I were to make a new bag, this would be the colors.

It’s so funny to me that the whole LOLcats thing has gotten exposure at Time magazine. Icanhascheezburger still remains one of my all time favorite websites. :)

The striking thing about lolcats–besides its amazing fecundity and variety and the fact that, unlike a lot of Internet cat humor, it’s actually pretty funny–is how little else like it there is online right now. The great, weird Internet meme, which once thundered across the Net in vast herds, is becoming surprisingly scarce, which may be why lolcats has a distinctly old-school, early 1990s, Usenet feel to it.

We may be witnessing a revolution in user-generated content, but the more mainstream the Web gets, the more it looks like the mainstream: homogenous, opportunistic and commercial. It’s no longer a subculture; it’s just the culture. And don’t we have enough of that already? Are we facing a future without a weird, vital, creative phenomenon like lolcats? Say it with me: “Do not want!”

Good reporting there from Time. ;)

Calculate your neighborhood’s “walk score”. What is a “walk score”?

Walk Score helps people find walkable places to live. Walk Score calculates the walkability of an address by locating nearby stores, restaurants, schools, parks, etc.

My neighborhood in NYC has an impressive walk score of 98 out of 100! That pretty much means my neighborhood rocks my socks.

OMG RUMOR: NYC may soon have its own In-N-Out Burger joint! PLEASE LET THIS BE TRUE! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

Coney Island seems to be doing well. I hope the development plans can be held off for at least one more summer. I really want the entire area to be the same as it was this past summer. I would definitely be up for Coney Island part 2 in summer 2008.

HA! Placing a dummy in a cafeteria with her head face-down in her tray of food will surely get some weird reactions from people nearby. Check out the video. [via]
