Monstrous (”Cloverfield”) movie trailer

This is one of the coolest trailers I’ve ever seen for a movie. It’s from a new J.J. Abrams film called Monstrous (it’s also known under its working title name, Cloverfield). However, since the name hasn’t been made official yet, the IMDB name for the film is simply “Untitled J.J. Abrams Project (2008)“.
Monstrous is about a group of people in New York City that are trying to survive amidst a catastrophic monster attack. For now, that’s about all that is known about the film which is supposed to be released in theaters on January 18, 2008 (hence the reason behind www.1-18-08.com being connected with the film).
The film is going to be shot from the view of digital camcorders, making the entire movie seem as if it is a true event filmed by actual people going through the trauma and experiences. It sounds to me like they are trying to make the date 1-18-08 as notorious as 9/11 (I mean, really, how many other famous events are marked and known simply by their numeric dates?). In any case, I think it’s brilliant marketing. I’m in.
Seeing this trailer really made me want to see the film. If you’d like, you can watch the trailer in HD from Apple. I’ll be looking forward to the release of this film. Super!

Typically movies released in january are usually terrible and flop badly at the box office. I am curious why a studio would release a movie with this kind of buzz. I mean, there are other upcoming movie trailers but nothing that is really getting the buzz of Cloverfield.

Now this is what you call a movie trailer… it makes you want to really go see the movie. Good post! And splendid choice.
