Sunday Slurpies

It’s early Sunday morning here, which means it’s time to poast the past days’ news from around the block [and around the world].

Amy Winehouse – Rehab
Amy Winehouse all bloodied and bruised (and crazy!).

City Room reports on the new Facebook application that brings MTA NYC Subway riders together for informal alerts and notices. I added the application yesterday and while, despite not even living in NYC at the moment.
In somewhat related news, Google is trying to ease travel in NYC by incorporating mass transit maps into their Google Maps database for the NYC area.

Whoa. Those steam pipes look bad. That makes sense I guess considering that they EXPLODED.

The Apple iPhone has been freed from AT&T. Twice. Nice.

Wired makes it official: It’s just ‘internet’ now (without the capitalization). Maybe it’s my generation, but I’ve never actually seen anybody capitalize the word ‘internet’. Maybe my generation just doesn’t care about capitalization in general. Maybe.

It’s a tragedy that nowadays, cars just don’t carry the same sentimental attractions between the owner and it as they did a few generations ago. At least this man still loves his old Ford Model A — his first car (amongst many others).

Is Cuban ruler Fidel Castro Dead? Maybe. If he is I’m sure Wikipedia would know. If he’s not, I’m sure Wikipedia would know too.

Real Simple has a printable chart of emergency procedures to hang around home, work, or anywhere.

If you’re totally ok with purchasing 3rd-party accessories for your electronics, then I’d say Deal Extreme is the place to go. I can’t believe some of the insanely cheap prices I see there. Some of the stuff there is real quality stuff! And even better, there is free shipping on all orders! How great is that?!
I might get this black soft pouch for my DS Lite or maybe the white soft pouch to match my white DS Lite. And I’m really tempted to buy this universal camera remote for less than $5 USD!!! This is my new favorite cheap shopping destination!

And some highlights from Doobybrain.com in the past week:

So word is that there’s an Apple event on September 5, 2007. I usually don’t give a crap about Apple events, but this one in particular covers the rumored release of new iPods! So naturally, I’d be a bit psyched. And if these rampant rumors are true, then the new iPods will have a completely new UI (maybe an actual OS) and be a bit more like the iPhone. Cheers!
