Phil Hansen - the people’s artist

Becca sent over this article about internet-famous artist Phil Hansen and his unique way of creating his art. He takes pride in creating his artwork outside of the traditional gallery space. He videotapes his work and posts it on YouTube and allows the “every-day person” to view it when they might otherwise not get a chance to ever step into a proper gallery.
Phil Hansen’s unique work style has garnered him fans all over the net. One of his most popular projects is entitled “Influences“, a small portion of which you can see in the image above. In this project, Hansen went ahead and painted people who have been influential in his life directly onto his body — and he filmed the whole process. View the video of it below.
“The picture is made from the moments that have changed peoples lives. I broadcast my phone via here and other web sources and had people call me and tell me something that changed their life. I was in the garage in front of the webcam 24/7 for 136 hours while working on this project.” - Phil Hansen
Anyway, definitely head on over to Phil Hansen’s website to see his projects and to learn more about him.
Click inside to see another amazing piece of work called “A Moment“, where he literally records moments of people’s lives on a circular rotating canvas. The video is quite crazy to see.
