I just logged into Facebook and was presented with this message at the top of my News Feed. In a few weeks, your profile (or at least some information in it) could be searchable by people outside of your Facebook network.
It could even be indexed by Google!
For those of you who are worried about your privacy, don’t worry, because Facebook offers you ways to protect your information. You just have to change a few privacy settings to tell Facebook what you want to show and what you want to hide.

In your Facebook privacy settings, there is a section for ‘Search’. If you go and edit these settings you are presented with a few new options, one of which is a “public search listing”. Edit these options to your heart’s content. Then save.

Finally, when you save the settings, the top of the ‘Search’ settings page will literally spell out what you have actually chosen and what that means in terms of how public or private your information is. I think this is great because it puts it into plain English after you’ve set your settings.
And now you’re done! Safe!

hey did you see the new ipods yet? they’re pretty sweet.
