AirPress is pretty cool

I first heard about AirPress very briefly at Weblog Tools Collection. I didn’t know much about it nor did I know exactly what Adobe AIR was. I just knew AIR was some sort of Flash-like technology competing with other technologies like Microsoft Silverlight, which I think is absolutely cool). So with minimal introduction, I just decided to play around with it at the school labs. Hey, I figured if it was going to screw up my computer it might as well screw up the school’s computer instead.
It turns out that AirPress is actually quite neat!
Built on Adobe AIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime) technology, AirPress allows you to manage blogs (provided that they run on either Wordpress or dotClear blogging platforms) in a very easy way right from your desktop!
The setup was rather easy and painless, and before I even knew that I was done, I had managed to link two separate blogs with AirPress. I thought it’d be more complicated given my near-zero familiarity with the technology, but honestly, it couldn’t have been easier. I’ve definitely had a harder time installing iTunes than getting AirPress running on Adobe AIR technology on the computer.

At the moment, AirPress and Adobe AIR are both in beta so don’t expect 100% smooth operation if you’re going to give it a go. With that said, I’m happy to report that there were no major snags for me when I tested AirPress.
Note: To run programs that use Adobe AIR technology, you have to first download and install the Adobe AIR software — but don’t worry, it’s really small and it should take only a few seconds.
