Second coming of Zune

Welcome to the social — again.

Microsoft officially unveiled their second-generation line of Zune media players today.

The new Zune music player now comes in a few choices: a black hard-drive model that can hold 80GB worth of media on a 3.2-inch display; and flash-based models in 4GB and 8GB that come in pink, green, black, and glossy red.

From my experience, the Zune is a pretty solid competitor to the ubiquitous Apple iPod and Creative Zen players. I wouldn’t immediately write these Zune devices off, so if you’re in the market for a new media player, maybe the Zune will suit you best.

The players become available starting November from $149 to $249 (depending player capacity).
