Can you believe that Garfield the cat once looked as ridiculous as the comic above? Yep, it’s true! The comic strip you see there is the very first Garfield comic ever printed! My my, the strip has changed since then — Garfield isn’t as fat, Jon doesn’t look nearly as doofy, and well, let’s just say I prefer the overall look of the traditional Garfield we know of today.
When I was poking around that newfound Calvin and Hobbes comic strip database the other day I saw that the same thing was being done to archive Garfield comic strips as well!
Organized in the same way as the Calvin and Hobbes database, the Garfield comic strip database spans nearly 30 years’ worth of comics (from 1978 to 2006). The latest strip ends on December 31, 2006. Unfortunately, none of this year’s strips are there, but I have a feeling that they will be eventually.

Enjoy!

I love Garfeild. Look how much its changed since then to now. U gotta apreciate this
