Meebo Firefox add-on is disappointing

I just installed the Meebo Firefox add-on (extension) and was very unimpressed. Prior to installing it, I had thought that the Meebo add-on would allow me to chat through the sidebar, much like how Google Talk allows you to fully chat and look at your contact list through the sidebar (if you choose to launch it from your sidebar, that is).

Unfortunately, the Meebo extension does not allow you to do that. What it does let you do is just get notifications in your Firefox window, something that’s a bit unnecessary especially if you’re required to have one tab open to Meebo anyway. Basically, it’s just using the sidebar to get you back to the regular Meebo tab in Firefox maybe a fraction of a second quicker than normal. Not much to give a crap about in my opinion.

When they start letting you chat IN the sidebar, then it’ll start to be useful. But for now, it’s just a waste of time. Don’t even bother installing it.
