Winds in upwards of 70mph in the Souther California area have transformed the landscape into a blazing inferno. The wild fire has been linked to at least one death, large-scale evacuations all across the area, and widespread damages.

Flickr obviously has its share of first-hand photographs taken by locals.

The extent of the fire is so incredible that satellites in space have captured the smoke billowing across miles of land and sea. NASA Earth Observatory has super hi-res images from the area in the last few days. The fires are outlined in RED.

Also, the satellite imagery from the NASA Earth Observatory Natural Hazards archive are quite impressive.

If you want more up-to-date imagery, MODIS Rapid Response System takes hi-res images of the area twice daily. Man, the effects of this fire are going to be far-reaching for sure. I hope everyone stays safe!
