The Office is closed

Here are some cast members and writers from The Office talking about the on-going Writers Guild of America (East and West) strike.

In brief, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) went on strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers on Monday, November 5, 2007 because of failed negotiations for compensation from various new-media outlets (things like internet webisodes, iTunes episode sales, various promotions, etc.). The writers for these shows are apparently only getting paid for writing season episodes while the money made from other “new media” sales are going straight to the studios. Not a penny is sent to the writers for this extra labor.

United Hollywood is on the front lines of the strike getting interviews, answering questions, and just getting all the information out to the public on their blog.

If you’re still a bit confused as to why there is a strike, maybe the video below can clear things up.
