What’s up with New York City? Already this week we saw the creation of the world’s most expensive dessert and now here’s the world’s most expensive bagel.

How much is it? It’s $1000 (tax included in the price).

But unlike the $25,000 dessert from Serendipity 3, this $1000 bagel is not just expensive because it can be. The $1000 price tag goes towards the Les Amis d’Escoffier Scholarship to help students in the culinary arts.

The $1000 bagel is made by Frank Tujague of The Westin New York hotel at Times Square. The bagel includes white truffle cream cheese and goji berry infused Riesling jelly with golden leaves (GOLDEN LEAVES?!) on a traditional NYC bagel. Here we go again with the eating of gold…

Anyway, if you want one you’ll have to order it 24-hours in advance. ‘Cause you know, chefs need all the time they can get to make a bagel with that kind of price tag.

they really should make public who actually goes and purchases these ridiculously expensive foods. why they hell would you want gold in your food. you’ll just have to pick it out before you eat it. so dumb!
