In this small collection of photos on Flickr, you can see the aftermath of a nuclear test made by the French on August 24, 1970. The nuclear test was codenamed ‘Licorne’.
Just look at the mushroom cloud up in the sky! And yes, those objects in the foreground are land formations, so you can compare how large that mushroom cloud really is at its distance.
