I finally finished getting ALL of the album art for my iPod. I went through about 2000+ songs in order to get it all to show. Thank goodness for programs like Mp3tag which let you find and embed album cover art into your music files easily. Without it, I probably would have just given up.
It’s pretty awesome to see album artwork now for every song I play. On my previous iPod, I left the album art out because it greatly reduced the speed at which my iPod ran, but on the new iPod, the album art doesn’t seem to do any harm to its speed. Once I figured that out, I decided to fix up the metadata and embed album cover art to all of my music once and for all.
One of my favorite album covers is Under The Iron Sea from Keane. The album has been out officially for over a year now (it was released on June 12, 2006) and I still remembering thinking “cool!” when I saw it for the first time last year.
It turns out that the album art is designed by half-Finnish and half-English designer Sanna Annukka. She makes mostly screenprints of her work which you should definitely check out if you like the Keane album art. Her work was so influential, in fact, to the band’s look that the current band website is reminiscent of her style. And not only that, every subsequent single release from Under The Iron Sea is made by Sanna Annukka as well (you can see them on the Keane website).
There’s a short interview with Sanna Annukka on the Keane website.
You can see more of her album cover art for Keane over at Sleevage. The DVD package for Under The Iron Sea looks fantastic! I’d pick one up if I could find it on sale somewhere.
