Jose Mestre is a man who suffers from a very serious facial tumor. The tumor started when he was a teenager and has since grown to a size of 15 inches long and weighing in at 12 pounds!
For years, Jose refused proper medical treatment because of specific beliefs prohibiting him from having a blood transfusion. Jose is a Jehovah’s Witness.
Jose’s condition, haemangioma, stems from abnormalities in the capillaries and veins in his face. In effect, what should be a river carrying blood back to his heart has turned into a lake, which has now expanded to obliterate the rest of his features.
The Discovery Channel UK will be featuring a video segment on Jose Metres and his rare condition tonight at 9PM (and with repeats on the 9th, 10th, and 18th of December).

Thanks DJ!

Wow! This guy is amazing! He inspires me with his faith and hope. I don’t think that i could live like that. He amazes me
I hope i will see him in heaven one day
He amazes me too!! He is such an inspiration and he is just amazing! Good for him to stick to his beliefs
How’s Jose doing today? Has he already taken his decision to be operated on this tumour facing his religious convictions? I saw the Discovery report on his last visit to UK a couple of years ago, but the media haven’t reported anything new so far. How is he? I wish him all the best. Jose, get well soon:)
Why can’t he give himself blood? He could donate blood for himself to use – it lasts a while and he could probably store up enough for emergencies – add saline solution if there is an emergency and then he wouldn’t be getting any from another person – so it should not be a problem for his beliefs.
This is what religion does to you.
Come back to reality dude for f’s sake! SURGERY…
Or like…hide or somethin..
Receiving blood from donors to save a life is not a sin! Are we or not all the same and all part of god and all, thus, brothers and sisters?
Get well soon and enjoy life. God wants that.
I would like to know about Jose, How is he doing ? I hope he is doing well and finally got the surgery!!! God bless you Jose and all your family!
Wow, Jose!! You are truely an inspirational being. I cant believe your strength. It takes a lot of courage and faith to overcome the obstacles that you’ve faced. Not many people can live the life that you have. In todays society, young people are more geared towards what makes them “look” cool, rather than being unique. Well Jose, you are truely an unique individual. If I ever get the chance to meet you, I’d be glad to be your friend. God bless.
