Holy Drinking Water: bottled goodness?

holy-drinking-water.jpg

Can drinking a bottle of water really make you feel better about yourself and make you do good things? Some out-of-their-minds entrepreneurs sure think so as Newsweek points out, and they’re on the road to capitalizing on the idea that bottled holy water can sell just as well as “regular” bottled water.

Holy Drinking Water, produced by a California-based company called Wayne Enterprises, is blessed in the warehouse by an Anglican or Roman Catholic priest (after a thorough background check). Like a crucifix or a rosary, a bottle of Holy Drinking Water is a daily reminder to be kind to others, says Brian Germann, Wayne’s CEO.

As you can imagine, some folks don’t find the idea all too kosher, especially when backed by such claims as those put forth by these water companies (anyone who believes that drinking water — even holy water — can make you good is an idiot).

And maybe those who are protesting the idea are doing something, because at the time of this post, Holy Drinking Water’s website is offline. Coincidence? Maybe.
