Sabotage Stupidity: Burton on snowboard-friendly mission

This winter ski/snowboard season, Jake Burton, the founder of Burton Snowboards, is offering up 4 different prizes of $5000 to any snowboarder (or crew of snowboarders) that best successfully poaches the remaining 4 mountains that do not allow snowboarders (you have to document the feat, of course).
I didn’t know this but “poaching” refers to the act of sabotaging a “skiers only” mountain on a snowboard. A “poacher” is any person or persons that engages in this act.
Those 4 “elitist, fascist resorts” (according to Jake Burton) are:
- Mad River Glen, VT
- Deer Valley, UT
- Alta Ski Area, UT
- Taos Ski Valley, NM
If this poaching event goes well, some of these places will have to change their names…
As a snowboarder, I really don’t see why any mountain should stay ski-only. There really is no reason for it and it’s all old-fashioned thinking on the behalf of these 4 ski resorts.
This contest is open to all United States residents (excluding RI) and Canada (excluding Quebec). Here are the official contest rules [pdf link].
For those that are questioning Jake Burton’s actions, he’s responded in a letter to the public saying that snowboarders are no threat to skiers and that 2 of these 4 mountains operate on federal land, which means snowboarders who pay taxes can’t even use it. Plus, the Burton contest page strictly states that snowboarders who enter this contest must follow rules and guidelines or face disqualification (see the ‘Poaching 10 Commandments’ link on the contest page).
