
Hot news in the press this morning is the bid from Microsoft to acquire Yahoo! for $44.6 billion.
Not that this is relevant or anything, but according to the MegaPenny Project, if you stacked pennies into the shape of the Empire State Building, you would still only have a little over $18 billion. So you can just imagine how many pennies $44.6 billion is! [Again, I stress that the penny comparison is only for dramatic effect]

Anyway, the acquisition is still up in the air (pending Yahoo!’s response), but it’d be interesting if both of the companies got together. Each one offers its own strengths: Hotmail is used extensively outside of the US; Flickr is a photo juggernaut; Microsoft is behind Photosynth…you get the picture.
Man, $44.6B. My mind is blown to bits.
