Oh me too! I saw this pic last year and wanted that mane for my pit. She would be the talk of the town… can you tell me where you found that costume? Thank you so much!

  • Sherry says:

Has anyone found out if you can buy that costume ? Our dog would look great in it.

  • missmag says:

I believe that is a homemade costume. I’m attempting to make one myself this year and bought some faux fur. The one in the pic look like real fur, though.

i have a boerboel and i am making one just like that for this photo contest we will be in. She is going to look good with the make-up and lion tail, all home made.

I have a mastiff, too and I would LOVE to find or make a mane like that…can you give me any tips?? Thanks!

As I really examined that photo (to make a costume for my pit) it occurred to me that it is a shaved Chow-Chow. Hmmm?

    • Judy says:

I’ve owned a Chow Chow before and that is definitely NOT a Chow. If it was it would mean the owner would have shaved the dog’s face, too. Plus they have completely different tails.

  • Casie says:

So… is this a chow that has been shaved ..if so, misleading becasue I’ve been searching for fabric for our 105lb lab .. any ideas?

  • kate says:

I went to the original source and asked.
If you make the costume I would make it as a whole front piece with holes for the front legs. I knitted my pittie a mane last year and it slipped around too much. Dogs don’t enjoy hot glue so I used some velcro-still was unsteady.

original source sez ” it was a short haired dog with a wig” Let’s get to making those wigs!

I have tons of kids that come to my house trick or treating every year. This year I wanted to set up my garage like a circus tent. I have a pit bull mix that looks just the dog in the picture and thought I could make her a lion and I’ll be a lion tamer. The kids will love it, especially since she’s well trained and does tricks. Any advice on how to make this awesome mane would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • Is that pic of your dog… Joey? What a cutie pie! I know everyone has asked… but how can I buy or make that mane? I have a gorgeous Great Dane that I wanted to dress up as a lion this year… but haven’t been able to find a decent mane and tail anywhere… I figured I was going to have to go to a fabric store and start from scratch, but I would so appreciate any tips or directions that you might have. Thank you so much!

I have been searching for a pattern or costume for my beautiful Boxweiler(boxer-rotweiler). I have been unable to find one. Can you please tell me where I can get a mane like that of where I can get a pattern? I would deeply appreciate it. Thanks

  • manda says:

you can get the mane fabric at any fabric store but its a lot of money. just cut a think strip off from it and make sure its long enough to cover the neck and i guess part of the face. then sew it and slip it over your dogs face. dont forget to add something to hold it in place!
