Shutter Shades: the dumbest thing I’ve ever bought

When I went to Good Vibrations last Saturday, I picked up a pair of Shutter Shades, the same kind that were made famous by Kanye West in his “Stronger” music video (see it below).

The glasses are probably the DUMBEST thing I’ve ever bought on a whim, but I don’t regret the purchase because honestly, they’re sorta fun to wear…in a retarded sort of way.

Plus, it feels good to know that I picked them up for dirt cheap at the concert rather than paying a whole lot for them at retail price (see shuttershades.com for retail prices ranging from $25-$40). Man, I’d never pay over $10 for this novelty item that makes no sense to wear.

Oh yeah, they make them now in glow-in-the-dark too for Kanye West’s Glow In The Dark tour.

The glow-in-the-dark shutter shades are $40. Good luck with those, huh.

I find these shades nice… I own two pairs, I got them dirt cheap too. ;)
I would NEVER buy them for retail price! I mean, they’re just for fashion anyway, they don’t serve real purpose except for making you look cool (if you can pull them off) or make you look severely retarded.

I say these shades are nice used in moderation, and if you actually look good in them. Come on, Kanye isn’t the only guy who can pull this look off, trust me, I’ve seen others do it… And no, none of them are Paris Hilton. :P

I would never walk down the street with them on though, for one, you are partially blinded by the shutters and two, from where I come from, street punks are most likely to pick on you for wearing things like that down the street.

Wear them if you can pull them off, if you can’t, don’t. My two cents.

I love my two pair. I got the neon green ones and the glow in the dark ones 2 for 20$ at the mall by my house. I agree, they are particularly dumb and have no function, but they are the coolest part of my wardrobe, and a great conversation piece
