The PATH train turns 100, offers free rides all day

The PATH train in New York City that connects NY and NJ by underwater tunnel turns 100 today. The New York Times has a slideshow of images detailing the history of the former Hudson & Manhattan (H&M) Railroad Company, known since 1962 as PATH (Port Authority Trans-Hudson).

To celebrate, the PATH train is FREE today from 6AM to 11PM.

Coincidentally, I posted the New York Times front page 100 years ago and one of the front-page news stories was the opening of the “trolley tunnel” to New Jersey (read the original PDF news article from 1908 [pdf]). I’m really loving this TimesMachine thing! It’s so nice to read old news stories exactly how they were printed.
