Scott Orr is a Canadian folk-rock musician that has released his latest album, Miles From Today, completely for free online.

The quote above is what drives Scott Orr to release his album for free rather than relying solely on traditional CD sales (but of course, the option to buy an actual CD is still available). Anyway, I found the above statement to be so true. The surge in claims from artist claiming to be the next big hit in the making has made finding truly inspiring music hard to find. To really rise above and beyond the pile of mediocre tunes found online these days a musician needs to find a way to stand out among their peers, and one way to do that (at least for now) is to set your album free online. It’s a quick and effective way to get your music heard and talked about.
I’ve been listening to this album pretty much every day for the past week while on my walk to classes and I’ve just come to love every single song off of it. If I had to make a comparison, I’d say it’s very much like Iron and Wine mixed with some Cary Brothers. Go and download the album and see if you like it!
