Jordin Sparks - Jordin Sparks (self-titled)

I’ll admit that I don’t really follow American Idol much, so when Yelena sent me an mp3 of the single “No Air” from Jordin Sparks, I had no idea who she was. A quick search revealed that Jordin was the winner of the 6th season of American Idol. Her self-titled debut CD was released in November of 2007 and well, that’s pretty much all I wanted to know.

So after listening to “No Air” a couple of times, I couldn’t get the tune out of my head. I really liked the song and I wondered what the rest of the album sounded like. It turns out that the rest of the album is actually quite good. It’s a mixture of pop and R&B mostly; catchy hooks and hummable tunes.

With the exception of Kelly Clarkson, I think Jordin is the only other Idol winner whose music I like.
