Riskay – Smell Yo Dick
So I’m reading this post about how the iPhone has made its music video debut in a song by Riskay called “Smell Yo Dick”, and here are some initial thoughts.
First of all, what a terrible title for a song.
Second, what a terrible song.
Lastly, what a terrible video.
Anyway, I usually try to avoid reading the comments, but for this particular post I just couldn’t resist. I thought it was absolutely spot-on when “Red Right Hand” made the connection between the stupidity of this video and the stupidity of the “future” world in Idiocracy (Note: Idiocracy is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen).
This is Idiocracy. It may seem very funny in these short clips, but believe me, the movie is not even remotely funny. It’s just a bunch of gags that try to make you laugh.
God forbid a movie have a bunch of gags and try to make you laugh!
For what it’s worth, it’s better on its second viewing. It was high concept and medium execution, but it’s a lot more thoughtful and prescient than you’re giving it credit for.
